:-( I had a job before i was out of college in india.

don't worry about it, girlie.

Thats all gone by. I went through a similar phase... but everything works out fine.

Pursuit of education and things that you learn in that course never goes to waste.

I am in a totally different field from my educational background. But things are fine and I am now at a stage where I can combine my knowledge and expereince to pursue both the fields in one career.

So never regret anything that you do in the pursuit of education. It will never go waste. In the end it will make you a person, who you will be proud of.

Good decision desigirl. I took up the job instead of the MS degree... Wish I had done the opposite. Maybe someday i will go back to school....
With a masters degree from the US, it will be relatively easy for you to land your first job.
Dont know your location, but incase you are in the Tri state area check out www.otec.com

desigal,

Which field of programming you are trying to get into?

Is it system level? or purely business related commercial programming. Its kind of tuff for getting into system level programming!

And if its the commercial programming you want to take as your field then do put lot of attention towards learning the trade mechanism first.

I mean show in your portfolio about the knowledge related to Financial accounts, Inventory control and Payroll etc.

My basic education is science but take or leave it I had to go through those thick books to learn the language of debits and credits. My hardwork paid me and quite honestly I dont have to worry about my future

As many other said here work hard dont give up... remember that dialog from sholay... Jo dar gaya samjo mar gaya... good luck!

one of my friends did this ..

got frustrated with sendin out resumes ..
so in the cover letter instead of the regular stuff .. he put down one line

"If you will call me you WILL hire me"

guess what .. got a call next day .. went for interview and got hired ..

of course u need someone in HR who is more open to seein such stuff on cover letter .. but if u stand out from the crowd they will remember ya ..

worth a shot .. mebbe ..

Also another friend of mine who graduated in june .. sent out a mail to all the people he knew informin them

1. that he graduated
2. his snaps from graduation are online and please view them
3. if u wanna help please send me any contacts u may have to help find a job ..

main point he got across in a good way thru e-mail was that he was now lookin for a job and any help is nice ..

.. can ya go back to school and apply as an intern ?
.. as someone replied in a prev. mail .. start as a trainee ..

job sites may not help .. but u never know ..so cannot give up on anythin ..

Good luck on ur job hunt
