Thumbs up Couple of Glasses of RED WINE, A Cup of Humble TEA, A Clove of Garlick Pyazz

No, not our Indian style tea boiled to thick creamy taste of half cup of milk and few fistfull of sugar ...

Tea in a cup of boiling water is good for health but the moment you add milk and sugar, chemistry changes ... something like that, I think ... here read on and what do you think?

Tea is linked with heart attack survival ... Heavy tea drinking could reduce the risk of dying after a heart attack, a study suggests.

Study of 1900 heart attack victims found that those who drank the most tea before their heart attacks ... about 19 cups a week, were 44 per cent less likely than non-drinkers to die in the three to four years afterward.

Moderate drinkers, or those who had fewer than 14 cups, had a 28 per cent lower death rate ... the study, appearing in the next issue of the American Heart Association journal Circulation, looked at deaths from all causes, not just heart disease ...

Dr Kenneth Mukamal, assist prof of medicine at Harvard Medical School says: "I have to say that the magnitude of the association we found between tea drinking and mortality and people who survive a heart attack was pretty dramatic, certainly more so than I think I would have expected," ...

Several studies have found that regular tea drinkers seem to have a lower risk of heart attacks, though it remains unclear why.
Researchers involved in the latest study suspect the findings are linked to flavonoids, antioxidants found naturally in various foods derived from plants ... tea is a major source of flavonoids in American diets ...

Dr said: "We found that tea drinkers generally had lower death rates regardless of age, gender, smoking status, obesity, hypertension, diabetes or previous heart attack"

A nutrition professor at Tufts University, Alice Lichtenstein, said more research must be done before a firm relationship is established between tea and heart health ... there might be other aspects of the participants' diets that could account for the results ... of course, the researchers acknowledged that more study is needed ...

challo challte hein hum ... dinner tayar hei ... couple of glasses of red wine before and during dinner ... a cup of tea after dinner ...
Life is good ...

After the finding that tea is good for your heart, a new finding suggests that tea is also good for your bones.

Heres the article....
http://www.msnbc.com/news/751473.asp?0bl=-0

THE BONE benefits occurred in people who drank an average of nearly two cups daily of black, green or oolong tea for at least six years, said researchers from National Cheng Kung University Hospital in Tainan, Taiwan.
....
Tea contains fluoride and chemical compounds known as flavonoids that include estrogen-like plant derivatives — both of which may enhance bone strength, the authors said.
....

Why couldnt this be true for rum or vodka?

I can drink 19 cups of alcohol in a week if that reduced chances of me getting a heart attack

For reasons unknown, I hate tea. It's taste, it's smell everything.
I think it's good. One addiction lesser.

Milking tea of its goodness
From correspondents in London
The Times
January 10, 2007 12:00am

THAT dash of milk in the morning cuppa nullifies all the goodness of the tea. Studies have shown that drinking green or black tea can be good for you because both types contain an abundance of antioxidants called flavonoids.

These improve bloodflow and help to prevent heart disease, and are also thought to protect against some cancers.

But German researchers discovered that adding milk to a cup of black tea counteracts the beneficial effects.

The study, published in the European Heart Journal, found that when black tea is drunk on its own, cardiovascular function improves. But it suggests that certain proteins in milk appear to negate the effect of catechins, the particular flavonoids in tea.

The findings are bad news for manufacturers who have promoted the health properties of the beverage to Australians who add milk as a matter of routine.

The study involved 16 healthy post-menopausal women who were given either 500ml of black tea, black tea with 10 per cent skimmed milk or with extra boiled water as a control.

They drank it on three occasions but refrained from drinking tea for four weeks before and after the study. The drink itself was made from 5g of Darjeeling tea leaves brewed for three minutes.

In a healthy artery, blood vessels are able to relax if the bloodflow increases - a process called flow-mediated dilation (FMD).

The researchers measured FMD levels in the forearm before the tea was drunk and at several intervals afterwards. They wrote: "Black tea significantly improved FMD in humans compared with water, whereas addition of milk completely blunted the effects of tea."

The culprit in milk appears to be a group of proteins called caseins, which interacted with the tea to decrease the concentration of catechins.
