Is Narendra Modi right...

Hi all,
One question,
I have heard Narendra Modi saying that till the Parliament is in session Congress will not allow the riots fire to stop,I hate him but i think he is right in saying that, because congress is capable of doing so,
after all police can't be at all the places,If i burn my neighbour's house who will come to stop me,later on i may be arrested but till that time it will become a riot news, some how i feel Mr Modi is undiplomatic more than a bad man.

what do you people say,Many congress MLAS are involved in riots,
Actually the riots stopped till 5th march,he is right in saying that
he controlled within 72 hours but again it started in shape of small incidents from March 20th.
actually i know how difficult it is to control violence once it starts,I am speking technically with no emotions or prejudice,
Even Mulayam Singh yadav who is deadly against VHP and BJP failed to control in 1990,it took around month to control,May be BJP was playing that game which congress is playing now.

I just want to ask technically how difficult it is for a chief minister to control riots, just technically no emotions,a CM is not a Superman and he has to control 50 million population, how difficult it is???

Officials surprised by Modi’s half-truths

It may be true but partially. If Narendra modi wants to stop it should stop early. Without any respect to Congress party, I can say that they are not only blame for that. They also loss their ex-MP. No one came to rescue him despite of many phone calls made to local police station. More over some police officer express their inability regarding riot. Those police officer acted as Govt. official should do during crisis they got transfer 2 days back. So still no reason to accept Narendra Modi at all .

TIMES NEWS NETWORK [ THURSDAY, MARCH 28, 2002 1:10:09 PM ]

HMEDABAD: Officials working closely with Chief Minister Narendra Modi have expressed surprise at his remarks before the media here on Wednesday that no officer was victimised for doing a good job during the ongoing riots.

While Modi said these were not punishment transfers but only promotion transfers, officials point out that all the four officials whose transfers the Director General of Police K Chakravarthi had objected to had been simply shifted, without promotions.

While the chief minister classified all the transfers as promotion tranefers, the main objection had come with respect to the shifting of Vivek Shrivastava, SP Kutch, Himanshu Bhatt, SP Banaskantha, M D Antani , SP Bharuch and Rahul Sharma, SP Bhavnagar. None of these officers, who performed well in controlling the riots, have got a promotion.

While the police establishment had pleaded that the four officials should be allowed to continue at least till the Holi festivities were over, the chief minister insisted that these officials should be relieved with immediate effect.

All the four officials have in fact been relieved from their present assignments and the IPS officers have decided to take up the matter at an emergency meeting to be held shortly.

The chief minister also sought to give the impression that things were normal in Gujarat by explaining that nearly 3000 Haji pilgrims has reached their homes safely after completing their pilgrimage and nearly 1000 tazia processions were taken out in Gujarat during Moharram .

However, officials said that this was hardly a sign of normalcy as the Hajis had to be escorted back home under unprecedented security and in an atmosphere filled with tension while most of the tazia processions in the big cities had to be cancelled.

Transferred cop saved journalists: Injured scribe

PTI [ MONDAY, APRIL 08, 2002 4:07:06 PM ]

AHMEDABAD: Additional Police Commissioner Shivanand Jha, who was transferred after Sunday's police lathi-charge on scribes at the Sabarmati Ashram, has been made a scapegoat in the episode, according to Pranav Joshi, NDTV cameraman, one of the victims undergoing treatment for head injuries in a city hospital.

Speaking to reporters on Monday from his bed, Joshi, who slumps to unconsciousness in between his conversations, said "Jha is totally innocent. the state government has in fact done a great injustice by transferring him.

"I even told this to Police Commissioner P C Pandey. I will apprise the Chief Minister Narendra Modi of the reality when he comes to see me this evening," he said.

On Sunday, journalists who had gone to the Sabarmati Ashram to cover two peace meetings were beaten up and Narmada Bachcho leader Medha Patkar manhandled. The state government ordered an inquiry, transfered two IPS officials including Jha and suspended Sabarmati Police station inspector P R Mehra.

Joshi said Jha had in fact saved the journalists and even shouted at his junior Deputy Commissioner of Police V M Parghi, another IPS official who has been shifted, to stop the attack.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Modi today apologised to Joshi on telephone over Sunday's attack and wished him speedy recovery.

The chief minister assured him that the guilty behind the attack would not be spared.

Modi is scheduled to call on Joshi this evening.

On the other hand, Police Commissioner P C Pandey is also upset over the transfer of Jha, because the latter was not only his close confidant but a very upright officer, official sources said.
