This is a question for those Indians who want to permanently settle down abroad like in USA/England etc.How do they intend to raise thier kids, either try to engrave our Indian family values in them or let them pick up the culture of the country they are living in.

Looking at the problems the parents face here in America really gives me a chill. The day before yesterday I was watching one of th emany talk shows on TV.The topic was "MY 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRESSES SEXY AND BEHAVES LIKE A 30 YEAR OLD". THere were four mother and daughter pairs brought on the stage. All mothers were facing the same problem.Thier 13 year daughters dressed half naked so that they could draw the attention of men.One of them was scared that she might be pregnant.

Will all this influence our children???Will they not love and respect us the way we love and respect our parents???
If we try to teach them what is right and wrong for them will they back answer saying "ITS NON OF YOUR BUSINESS,ITS MY LIFE".Will I have to put contraceptive pills in my daughters milk as soon as she is 13 or 14 years old.

With all this there are only three conclusions, either our children will become " A INTROVERT COMPLETELY CONFUSED BETWEEN THE TWO CULTURES or THEY WILL PICK UP THE RIGHT VALUES FROM THE PARENTS AND ACCEPT THIER CULTURE or THEY WILL FOLLOW THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIVING AND GO WASTE"

Any idea what one should do to avoid the first and the last conclusions.

i've thought abt this problem a lot and so has my gf ... the only solution we have is that we're gonna make sure our kid finishes his high school and college (after grade 7 or 8th) in india and we are ready to move there for it... it might affect our lives but we will do whatever we can to make sure our kid grows up to be a decent individual... this is the only choice... either u can be selfish and stay in here n watch ur kids go to waste or u can sacrifice somethings (n actually with all the development taking place in india i don't think there is too much to sacrifice anyway) n go to india so that ur kids grow up to be decent individuals...

that's my 2 cents...

I think CD's are really hip...the sort of things they do.....real trendsetters

They have cholley poori with french fries
Dosa with a chicken in mushroom sauce stuffing
rasgullay that have some icing on them

Their typical sentences tend to be like oye ur a frickin khota....

Have white gf/bf's but at the same time their date has to be in a HALAAL restaurant

cool lot....wonder why you prospective parents are so bugged...I mean I for one would love to have a such a circus in my family....entertainment ki entertainment and cultural hybridisation ki cultural hybridisation
