Question Salary in Mountain View

Hi All,

I have around 13 year of work experience and will be moving to MV soon.
Salary I offered is 125K fixed with variable 10-13% bonus added on it.

My wife will not be working and my kid is around 2.5 year old.

When I talked to my contact I got mixed opinion about salary which is making me confused about move or not?

Is this compensation decent enough or at lower side ?

I have no clue about living cost there as I will be moving from Europe but currently located in India due to office work. My half of work exp come from India.

Housing is pretty expensive/inflated in the bay area.

Decent 1BR apartments are around $1500/mo, and you've to include $50-100 utilities, $20-50 Internet, $20-$100 cell phone, etc.

Public transportation sucks, gas is expensive - about $3.75/gal at cheapest gas stations.

Checkout rent.com to get an idea of rental properties and going rates.

Nope, not saying that. I'll defer that for him to decide. I was just answering the monthly rent + expenses part to see if it helps him make the right decision.

As for the desis, maybe he's a Lungi and prefers to be among them?

What will be square feet size of a 1BR apartment?

Since we are small family I think we need 2BR and I guess rent would be around $2500/mo.

Varies from ~600 sqft - 800 sqft for 1 BR.

FYI, you should also consider neighboring cities like Sunnyvale, San Jose, Milpitas, Santa Clara, Palo Alto if you are willing to commute a little.
