Question data center/data storage

if i a may ask you this simple question - where does 'a simple rdbms installation on a standalone server' ends and 'data center' gets mandated?

if there is a need to store say 100TB of data in best way (secure, robust and all other good features of data storage), what all will be needed? (basic/high-level/macro-level components)

if a 'data center' is needed for 100TB, what other information is needed to define all specifications such a data center?

Re: data center/data storage

small-small question hi hai.

data center does not mean securely packaging 1000 flash/usb drives of 1TB each in a box and putting the box in a secure location (afaik)
it likely means a organized storage of large scale data which can be queried/accessed/updated in an efficient way (like an rdbms)(again, afaik)

ANYONE?
