Some Prius drivers can be a major headache

I have observed, ever since I saw the South park episode about Prius car and drivers, the driving habits of Prius drivers.

Most of the time, the Prius drivers drive like regular drivers. But some are such headaches!

They will slow down way before the lights, refuse to speed up to the city speed limit of 40 or 45 mph. Just create such a nuisance for others.

More later ...

Whats wrong in slowing down way before the light? I am assuming that you are talking about yellow/red lights. Even I slow down early so that I don't have to break hard when I am actually at the light.

The mileage is the problem. These frigging ripoff hybrids show you how much gas you are "saving" constantly. So people drive and adjust their speeds to maximize that. Very annoying. Its like when people in India used to turn off their engines and coast down hill or coast to a stop at a light. Just bugs those of us that dont have all day to waste saving 2 cents worth of gas.

What is wrong with trying to save gas? I know people who use break/gas like on/off switch. Also when you have cruise control all you do is get to the speed limit and stay there....and change only when you need to.
I am not saying turn off the engine when driving downhill, but I see no reason for annoyance when people are still doing their speed limits with gas-saving-techniques.

No No...I am not saying save fuel for 2 cents. I am saying save fuel in the same lines as save water/electricity etc if possible. If everyone does it, it will have a huge impact in the fuel consumption.

If they were at the speed limit in the slow lane, thats fine. But they deliberately accelerate very slowly .. and coast to stops - start slowing down 300 yards before the light. Which slows everyone else down.

Also, get the frick over to the slow lane if you dont want to go over the speed limit!

Rakhiji, there is something called 'going with flow of traffic'. If all traffic is moving, say, at 40mph as per the speed limit, then this one Prius driving at 35mph does hinder rest of the traffic behind it in that lane. This causes traffic problems.

Hahaha...Hypermilers

This is the MFD on my car. I am on 52 right now

But I don't hypermile when there is traffic following me And you don't really have to drive slow in order to get better MPG.

@ camry. For someone who thinks that the Prius is an ugly car, look again. It's quite hot actually

My personal resolution for the next year is to punch every desi in the gut who owns any of the following cars.

- Honda Civic (4 door)
- Honda Accord
- Toyota Corolla
- Toyota Camry (Gray color)
