Mayans were a very rich civilization.. the stories of Mayan gold abound throughout Latin American history... Whether they were advanced, depends on your definition of "advanced". I don't really know anything about the Mayans, but any civilization to have recognized the value of gold and accumulated it in huge amounts must've have had lots of good about it. Maybe they weren't as advanced militarily.

As above.. guess some more about the Mayans would be helpful..Some parts of America (e.g. Texas) that adjoin mexico may have had some mayan influence. Actually Texas was once a part of Mexico, when the white man settled down there, called himself "Texican", he wanted to align himself more with the other whites in the rest of America, rather than the browns in Mexico.. There was a bloody war (I don't know much of history, but read about General Santa Ana) after which Texas joined the USA. There was a split among the Texicans as to whether it should be an independent nation. Even today there are splinter groups in Texas wishing for independence.
