Car suggestion for Indian roads..

Hello All,

Inspired by Shivsainik, I am also thinking of buying a new family car that would be spacious yet rugged enough for indian roads. It should also have good top speed. I don't like bulging bodied / scratch magnetic cars like Toyota Innova.

I am thinking of Scorpio VLX. But sometimes Scorpio looks too big but I don't want too small either. I have budget of 10-12 lacs, please suggest me other otpions.

My mom recently bought a Honda City...it was 9 lacks something in Hyderabad. She is loving it and she says it is very comfortable and spacious. She drives in Hyderabad.

Here is my suggestion. I have owned - my father that is - an ambassador since my birth. I drove it and my father before me. Its a real luxury ride on Indian roads. Read the review, especially the section about suspension and Indian roads.

Tata has a model similar to Toyota Innova ... I hired it for few weeks last time I was on the road ... with a driver. I found it comfortable even when we had friends with children joining us. 8 seater I believe.

you can also go for mitsubishi lancer cedia...

Tata Safari, that is.

its quite spacious, comfortable, powerful and a decent offroader. Price is similar to scorpio/innova, they have a new variant to this car which gives good fuel economy too.

Userbhai ... I cant be sure of the name. Safari she was ... I don't really care for in my life there is one and one only ... rest are for good-time and time-pass and urgent relief.

You know me ... a faithful man. Anything new is for good time only. Good time done with ... I am back with my 'old' but lovely. I am a one woman man and one car man. I kiss the the road my 'old' darling drives on.

I did apologize to my darling ... she was upset and gave me tough time for few days ... I explained to her ... she wasn't there with me in Mumbai ... TATA thing was easy and available so I had to ride her but in my mind it was my darling I was riding. She understood and forgave ... she gently opened the door wide for me to slide in ... to the same old feelings and pleasures I have become so accustomed to. Evertime I ride her ... its like first time.

She is as beautiful today as when I brought her home first time. Of-course ... just like me ... she has changed ... just a bit ... a little wear and tear. But there is nothing more pleasurable in the world like growing old together ... you and your darling car.

22 years of togetherness ... she knows my needs ... she understands my urges and I know just how to drive her into state of ultimate. That is one hood I will never hesitate to kiss.

Me and my darling. There has never been and will never be another love-story like ours ... me and my car. I was the first in her life ... and I will be the last ... I will see to it. God forbid the day when she can be ridden no more ... but she will be there ... inside ... cozy in the garage. And for me ... there never will be another one ... ever.

Being a man ... often I have thought of giving her bumpers a shine ... or some new cosmetic job. NO WAY ... I like her the way she is. Beautiful ... just beautiful. No other can ever come close.

So you were telling me about this beauty in India ... TATA Safari ... she was good for some good-time and time-pass.

The Maruti SX4 is a good option if you are considering a petrol engine. It has a good ground clearance too.

For diesel, the Hyundai Verna/Accent Viva are equally good.

10-12 lacs for a car in India - you cannot go wrong with Toyota Corolla Altis. Solid reliability, good ride and superb after sales service.
