Study in USA

One of my my close friends ( Not me ) is getting in business of study in USA. He is tying up with some colleges that offer Post Graduate certification courses. ( Not MBA ) .

What's your opinion ? Will this work in India ?

Can people spend around $20K for a 9 month certification from a reputed university ?

Since $20K is a lot of money for an individual to spend out of pocket, it will be easier if your friend approaches any MNC's which in turn will sponsor it's employees for the course. Of course a lot depends on the course curriculum and how well it can be co-coordinated in the company offering this course to its employee...

Usually folks who have the money want their 'baba' or 'baby' to go to 'phoren' for getting a diploma or degree.

Now there are many 'correspondence' type of 'phoren' courses in India where the local institute ties up with some US based university. People do go to these places. However, things have changed quite a bit back home.

You can see that the number of people taking GMAT from India has gone up quite a lot. Lot of Indian students can afford to come to the US for courses.

If your friend is thinking of offering non MBA courses, then he needs to evaluate what the value would be to an Indian student from a career in India point of view.

I know that Project Management is a well known course and is accepted in Indian industry and people do go for international certification.

So what is your friend offering? How feasible are the career prospects after doing such courses?

I beleive that is what he is targetting Project Management type of courses for Babas and Baabis. Those who dont want gmat and other shit. My question was how big is an am ount of 10lac in India now . Can upper middle calss afford it ?

Yes they can. But still 10 lacks is too much for a 9 months course...I think.

You are in for a big surprise ... Rakhiji. More karorepatis in India than in any other part of the world ... incl US. All you need are couple of flats and 10 years or so.

Padosiyon ko kyya bataiyenge beta certificate yaa diploma karney US gayya
hai.
One of my friend is also getting into same stuff but for UK NZ Canada , he was interested in Oz , I adv him to go for genuine uni's and am also helping him out.
I reckon his plan will be up and running by early next year.

What if cannot get into masters due to Gmat requirement ? These are his target audiance.

I acted in a movie here but the guy who made it couldnot market it properly and said that he doesn't care even if he can't sell it to anyone ( paisewaali party ).
I made 3 documentaries ( produced & directed both )
One was abt a princess , born to a prostitute in Delhi was the only independent female ruler of a small estate in sardhana UP during british india . DD bought it for pennies.
Second was a pilot on a Icelandic tribe sentinelese in A & N.
Madrechaud dumb IAS officer first gave a approval in writing later declined as I being too poor to bribe him.
Third was on female foeticide and infanticide in Rajasthan. Got award in India no money again.
Fourth was on gurjars of Raj rights bought by gurgaon based company for discovery.
Last was pilot on students coming to Oz from India . SBS here said they cannot commission it as there budget is too tight and my budgeting was way above. Researcher on this was a guy from netherland who did phd in Oz on this topic.
So all in all 3 docs 2 pilot and plenty of girls but again net loss of money and back to square one , ab wapas duniyadaari kee daud mein.
Such is life...

Harvard hai to jahan hai , lekin people who go for these kind of specialised or not so specialised courses usually don't go thru consultants....my view , maybe wrong.

Has the guy done some from of research on business based solely on Cert courses . I personally believe there is a still a big opportunity in this sector in India . With Oz education taking a little dip this year gainers will be other countries .

Out of curiosity do all Uni's and Master courses require GMAT , as my friend told me IELTS ,TOEFL scores by themselves are enough for admissions in close to 2000 institutes.

if the course has good reputation and can assure a job in usa..upper middle class will go for a loan in the bank to send baba/baby to phoren and lie padosis that he/she is doing ms....it is all about getting a job in usa first and then a PR....if the course can assure this..it will be a big hit..yes and you need to market it well in mumbai....target all degree colleges...bribe the princi so that he gives you an hour in his college ,where he makes students compulsory to attend it...

Not a good idea unless it's an accredited degree. And I am not sure you can get any degree in 9 months. For 20k, you can actually buy a degree in India or from University of Phoenix.

I don't know what kind of degree can be bought in 9 months but I can issue you a qualified plumber's certification after only a month.
