How to monitor and block websites (in Lan) ?

My friend has started a cyber cafe. He has heard that one can control all computers through server (in a Lan envoironment), ie, you can see all the websites that users are surfing, and if they have pron / adult content, then they can be immediately blocked.

Does anyone give the details for the same ?

PS : He has already tried a few anti pron sofwares but they r not fool proof, they dont block the pcis, v clips that one gets in the mail. So hes looking for on the spot vigilence.

Ask your freind to shut down the cyber cafe

.In any case it would be shut down incase miraclously he / you / anyone comes with a solution .

Blocking Porn pics / videos via mails - Impossible ( atleast if I am one of the customers)

*confidence backed with years of experience at cyber cafes*

For on the spot vigilence - install cams for all monitors or thullas , whichever is cheaper and doesn't intrudes into the privacy of the customers.

There are many softwares which allow you to keep track of how long a user in a cybercafe is using a particular workstation. This is helpful for account keeping to charge a customer upto the minute.

However, installing filters of any sort to monitor and prevent access to websites that customers access is against your friend's own business interests.

One thing he can do is run a batch file which will clean up the user's history and temporary internet file cache and cookies to prevent the next customer from accidentally stumbling on some sites the previous user visited. This would be useful if kids also come to his cafe.

This guy is asking for "FREE" advice for HIS FRIEND's "Business".
Business is a profit making istitute. Do you provide "free" advises for all money making opportunities?

Why don't you quit your JOb and open up a opise and start giving out free advises on how to run IT related bizness and dukaan's.

There are some cyber cafe softwares available which is based on client-server tech. A server application will be installed on the server and client will be installed on all other work stations. The software will keep track of timings/user activity etc. but i dont know if he will be able to block any sites with these softwares..

I have gone throug this kind of situations sooooo many times. If interested, lemme know and I will share my experiences.

But I learned my lesson. Never give out any Idea or advise to anybody unless you care about them, about money making/saving.

but encourage customers to visit porn sites - give them a private booth with a door .. and then take video shooting of them jerking off. Then point the new customers to that site
