Modus operandi of Bombay’s Gigolos

This one’s quite an eye opener. Rich women including housewives visit the city looking for good looking men particularly models to satisfy their innermost desires. Here’s a vivid depiction of the Modus operandi of the people who cater to their requirements.

Model by day, gigolo by night

MiD DAY was tipped off about a small-time model coordinator Vijay Singh Sethi, or VSS, who lures male aspirants with money and turns them into prostitutes. Here’s how our sting operation went...

Our correspondent posed as Rajiv, a struggling model, and contacted VSS. After repeated calls, VSS finally asked Rajiv to send his portfolio to him. Rajiv then called him up a few days later to ask for his feedback.



Rajiv: Sir, please see my pictures. I’m looking very smart. Koi serial ya music album mein kaam milega?

VSS: Aap ki height aur face ok hai par model material nahin hai. It will be difficult to get work in TV or films. Agar paise ki zaroorat hai toh thoda aada teda kaam karoge?

Rajiv: Aada tedaa, sir, samjha nahin.

VSS: You’ll make more money than you would make as an actor. Many women come to the city from out of town for sex with young men. Upcoming models are in demand. Many models do this to earn some extra cash.

Paisa bhi milta hai aur masti bhi. Those who used to roam on bikes now drive around in their Honda City cars.

Rajiv: Ok, I’ll do it as I am short of money right now.

VSS: If I get some good work, I’ll call you.

‘You look around 28, not 20, mazaa nahin aayega’

One Saturday evening, Rajiv gets a call from the coordinator

VSS: Get ready, you’ll be picked up around 9 pm tonight. One woman has come from Ahmedabad. Quite young. Married to an old business man, who has a lot of money but can’t satisfy her. So, she comes to Mumbai on weekends. Aaram karke jaati hai.

Rajiv: How much will I get paid?

VSS: I’ve made the deal for Rs 10,000. Rs 7,000 for me and Rs 3,000 for you as this is your first time. Then sky is the limit.

Rajiv: Thanks sir.

VSS: Don’t get too excited. If the client rejects you then I’ll have to arrange for other men.

The plan for the evening

Rajiv would be picked up from a Café joint near Lokhandwala complex, Andheri and escort the client to any pub or discotheque for a drink (on the client’s expense) and then accompany her to a hotel room. The model can leave the hotel room anytime after completing his services.



Sumeet Sehgal, an associate of VSS, also into prostitution, added, “We also give homo and bisexual services, as there are some high class clients who prefer them. We also conduct private women parties in which male strippers kum gigolos perform. If you have a great body and can dance a bit you are in for good money.”

The client arrives in a red Santro and introduces herself as Shabana.



VSS: Hello madam. This is Rajiv.

Shabana: Hello, how are you? I think I have seen you somewhere.

VSS: He has worked in many music videos. He is just like you wanted. Zhoro shoro se kaam karega. That too for just Rs 10,000.

Shabana: I am a bit doubtful. Rs 10,000 mein known face…

VSS: This is a special offer as you are a regular client.

Shabana: Ok let’s talk it out in the car. I want to make some things clear. MiD DAY correspondent, the model coordinator and the client get in the car.

The client turns a bit sceptical and asked the correspondent to spend two days with her.

Shabana: I’ll pay you Rs 20,000 but you have to do as I say. I am interested in a man around 20 but you seem around 28. Mazza nahin aayega.

VSS: Madam, if you don’t like him, I can arrange for someone else.

Shabana (touching Rajiv): Bhalu ki tarha baal hai. I like shaved hairless chest. Sorry but I am very choosy about men. The reason I have travelled to Mumbai from Ahmedabad is for good-looking young men.

VSS: There’s another man called Sameer, whose pictures I had sent you. He used to do some modelling in Delhi and came to Mumbai to become a hero. Now, he’s willing to do anything for some money. He’s a nice sweet boy.

Shabana: Chalo theek hai. I should tell you that you guys are fools who come to make it big in the glamorous world, leaving your families and businesses behind and then get hooked for petty jobs.

Rajiv: And people like you take advantage of such men.

Shabana: Well, they too get paid for their services. And I freak out.



This correspondent was dropped a few metres away from the café shop, while VSS and Shabana went off in search of a younger man.

Good post cooldude.. I think these type of stings were conducted earlier by Times Of India in Delhi. Then Zee TV did some sting about female models.

What I fail to understand is that such articles will infact energise every college kid to forget studies and try his hand at being a gigolo. ANyway, this is sensational but not a surprise.

I did not need any coordinators. These fine ladies used to come calling at my door. Oh man.. Sonali bendre was in tears when I left for teh USA. Namrata Shirodkar met me in USA once long ago as she had heard from her sister Shilpa how good I was. Well those were the days!
