I have had a thread before about waking up one morning and finding that there is no Internet. What would your reactions be, how would you cope etc.
Well on the same lines, a wild thought came to me. Imagine you can speak your mother tongue and English. You wake up tomorrow morning and find that you have completely forgotten your mother tongue. You cannot recognise anything about your language. Its all Greek to you. What will you do? What will be your reaction? Will you try to re-learn the language? |

Re: You wake up one morning and have forgotten your mother tongue
My first thought will be :"Jhinga lala, what happened..why am I not able to think anything?"
Then I will start talking to even my good friends in english who will think this guy is drunk heavily and kick me surely....then pro'ly will help me in re-learning the language.... |

Re: You wake up one morning and have forgotten your mother tongue
The biggest problem I would have is not being able to watch Hindi movies and enjoying the music as well. Other than that....it wouldn't bother me too much.
The thing that would bother me a lot would.....how in the heck did I forgot a language overnight!!!! ![]()

![]() ![]() Cha pai, where do you come up with such thoughts from anyways?? Interesting really.. A person who talks about shit almost everytime he writes on eCharcha can be so philosophical too..!! Surprising... ![]() Hmm... it would be a challenge really... and frustrating too.. coz you have to re learn everything that you already knew at some point of time! At this age, it would definitely be more difficult for me to learn the language again coz I believe your grasping capacity reduces as time passes by. I mean, at a very young age, say when you are 5/6 your mind is the most impressionable. I am certainly not that young anymore! So, it would be a struggle of sorts.. probably I'll learn it better.. perhaps I'll not learn it so well.. Maybe it would all depend on the amount of usage of the language. I would certainly want to stress on languages which are more contemporary and more in use! For instance for me, Marathi is not as important as English anymore, so I would rather learn English better than Marathi now! ![]() I hope I am able to convey my point.....
