What are your Favorite Unsubstantiated Theories!

Go ahead and post your own wacky, unsubstantiated theory. We're not really in the business of debunking or proving them here, so lets not hijack it too much by debunking these things. Let's just spill those weird conclusions you've come to on your own that may or may not be shaping your life!

My First unsubstantiated theory

That there is an old man in the sky who watches over everything you do and who punishes you if you're bad and rewards you if you worship him.

I mean, how could anyone fall for that one?

My 2nd Unsubstantiated Theory...

The people who write computer viruses and software companies that sell antivirus software are working in concert with each other, in fact, the virus writers are most likely *employed* by the antivirus software companies....

they're, of course, paid "under the table" so the antivirus companies can retain an air of plausable deniability.....

think about it...

MY 3rd Unsubstantiated theory

I think our whole concept of "the universe" is inside-out. What we know as the convex surface of the earth is actually the concave surface of the inside of a sphere. When we look "up," we're actually looking toward the center of that sphere, which is, of course, the center of the universe. The moon, for example, orbits a certain distance within the surface of the earth; the sun and planets orbit somewhat further in, etc. And when we dig "down" into the earth, we're actually digging outward.

The reason the non-earth "universe" seems so vast is that time and space slow down as they approach the center; so all those galaxies are extremely compressed in both space and time. And gravity is pulling everything toward the center, making things speed away from us, causing red shift.

The earth, on the other hand, is actually beneath the surface in all directions, containing concentric spheres of crust, magma, etc., and is actually expanding outwardly, creating new space and time. The "center" of the earth is equidistant from the surface, in all directions.

Of course, because of all the compression and expansion, we erroneously think the universe is actually the opposite of what it really is.

MY 4th Unsubstantiated Theory ...

This not actually my theory , I have read about it and I happen to be having not a single reason to not agree with this theory .It is the the parallel universe theory of quantum mechanics- basically, every time more than one thing could possibly happen, the universe splits into different universes covering each possibility (for example, if you flip a coin, two universes are created, one in which it comes up heads, and one for tails). I often wonder what the other me's in some of those universes are doing now.

A simple thought experiment would debunk your theory

If you take digging down to be digging outward...in theory you could dig down from north pole and come out at south pole...does that mean by moving outward you actually came inward?

Usually one counter example is enough to sink the whole "theory"

There was some truth to this, atleast in case of one Indian company called Red Alert or some such name. I used to work at a company and email was just starting to get popular and internet access had been installed on a couple of servers, so that we could all access it via a proxy server.. We had a contract with a computer maintenance company and they would come every month to upgrade the anti-virus software and any patches for the OS and other software. (Yes we used to have paid for original software )

After about 4 to 5 months, we realised that every time this upgrade happened, we would be hit with a virus. Then we called this company and they would say that the new upgrade had the anti-dote for the virus. Soon we realised the game and kicked that company out. Not surprisingly, we stopped having virus problems when we switched to the more expensive McAffee antivirus software.

Nothing happens behind me...It is only that when I go somewhere, people act like something happened and place things as if it is a result of that event.

In the Ramayana the Vaanars were Neanderthals. Ravan ruled over Atlantis (atlantis is Greek for Lanka(I feel). Kumbhakarna was actually a Grizzly who was awakened from his hibernating to 'fight' Ram. Ahi and Mahi Ravans were American Indians (Mayas etrc..).
