with politics and bureaucracy being the way it is in India, it won't be anytime soon - that is if it ever happens. I would rather prefer if some private airlines in India would give this idea some consideration. They have better chances of success at making money in flying international that IA does.

I am agree with both of you...
but today,.. India is not same like 20 yrs ago...
they are leasing new planes for new routes..
hope they will start fly soon.....
it is good for us...more competition....more cheaper flights

Good to know that Indian Airlines is making progress! But isn't Air India already flying all the mentioned destinations? Also, I have heard that IA is lousy and oftentimes unconcerned about the passangers. Local travellers/flyers prefer Jet Airways or Air Sahara to Indian Airlines...!
