Sorry for seeing you after so long! But I'm back. This time after defeating our biggest enemy BJP!

Ab mein sukoon ki neend loonga. Now there are Soniaji,Lalooji and Mulayam to protect our interests.

And while you are at it, take some viagara as well.. atleast the doodhwallah will not have to make two pheris to your house and the pathan will not have so many field days..

Leading newspapers in Italy exulted over the win of 'Italian' Sonia Gandhi in India's general elections, report agencies

"Sonia Gandhi: an Italian triumphs in India," headlined La Repubblica, a Leftist daily. "Against all expectations, there is now little doubt that the Italian from Orbassano will become India's next prime minister," it said.

"Italian Sonia Gandhi triumphs," frontpaged Corriere della Sera, one of Italy's major dailies.

"After becoming the undisputed leader of the party, Sonia Gandhi became the fifth member of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty to take up the reins of the Congress," it said.

Sonia has "taken the place of Indira Gandhi in the hearts of the deprived masses," and India's "economic miracle didn't save Vajpayee," said La Stampa.

"Italy is celebrating what could be its first woman prime minister... albeit, prime minister of India," said the BBC.

"Finally - an Italian woman as prime minister," it quoted Margherita Boniver of the Italian foreign ministry as joking.

But coming back to the leadership issue. If leadership was trivial we would have seen a lot of corporations lead by politicians and populists, but we don't.

India is an huge country, and any position of power will bring with it an even greater responsibility to the common man.

Do you think you can fully trust somebody, who may have a different background (as a European I myself struggle in India) and possibly has a conflict of interest (i.e. who has to compromise on what is best for the country)?

Appreciate your replies, and BTW I'm apolitical so I just want to see the best possible outcome.

an educated person like you (an assumption) supporting the idea of Sonia becoming a PM. I am not going to go into the security related reasons why this is such a stupid idea because there have been numerous articles regarding this.

Above all, it is an issue of dignity, which it seems to don't have it. The biggest bacteria that British rule has given us is our subservience to "gorie chamadee." I am surprised by your habit of genuflecting to an "outsider." This is exactly the Britishers wanted Indians to become and you have proved that they have succeeded

If you believe Sonia is an Indian go and take a look at any Italian newspaper and you will notice each and every newspaper is screaming "Italian Sonia" and not "Indian Sonia." I wish you had treated India as your home and then thought of the scenario where your neighbour becomes your decision maker.

But I guess all these does not matter to you.

Sonia … what if she does not do well? No problem … come next elections and your Kangresh party will have no qualms having a Pakistani as its leader. Does it occur to you echarchans? If we can have an Italian why the bloody not a Pakistani as a prime minister? Indian should expect nothing less from party of moherfo(kers.

Free electricity to the farms … why not? Type FARM SUBSIDIES in any search engine and read for yourself. Every single western nation gives huge amount of monies in subsidies to the farmers. Why not poor farmers of India?

It seems (I think videseebhai mentioned in some thread) Indian Muslims have voted in a single block to bring Congress back to power. Good, I say. Democracy in action. I am proud of our Muslim president … I would have rather preferred if Indian Muslims had it in them to have voted and elected an exclusive Indian Muslim party to lead our nation. Democracy … as long as shared among Indians. Nayasavera and Zen … easy ... I am not being sarcastic to you two. I meant every word of it.

BJP and anti-Hindu feelings among our Muslim brothers … justified? May be. Obviously Hindu votes were divided. Speaking of Hindus … for seven hundred years now, we Hindus have been fortunate to have Muslim as our brothers and neighbors and yet we have learnt nothing from them … for instance unity? Getting screwed royally has become a single most enjoyable pastime of Indian Hindus.

Are Indian rural poor and farmers intelligent enough to use voting power? Of course they are. Like Vakil Sahib said … if Americans can elect Bush over Gore! I think you guys underestimate intelligence of your poor. Indian rural poor and farmers could have as easily elected an entire team and party of communists to Delhi … do you get it? Be grateful and trust wisdom of our poor.

Proud … let’s be proud! World’s largest democracy in action! Poor and minorities exercising their rights! Great! We want a united India … Hindus, Muslims and all other minorities living in peace as a single unit in harmony. I am an ardent admirer of the British Administration and their Raj .If I am not leading then atleast I want to be leaded by someone better than me and others , under whose leadership I my personally profit the most .During the Zamindaari system of the British Times my ancestors were literally Billionaires and all my ancestors tell me that the British administartion was simply sublime and Indian administration stands no where near to them .I have every personal reason to Like the British Raj and every personal grudge with the Indian administration .

I dont believe in caste creed religion or race .I know I am broad minded and you all are narrow minded and thats why i have really nothing against Sonia becoming PM and you have just your ego problems and narrow mindedness coming in between .
