It is a difficult choice but if I have to make one anyway it will be "Aay mere vatan ke logon". Every time I hear it, I get a lump in my throat.

Tough to decide

So many songs, so many great singers. Its really tough to make a top ten list. I tend to listen to oldies (mostly from 50s) & ghazals.
My favourite songs:

Aaj jane ki zid na karo - Farida Khanum

If I were given a chance to pick just one ghazal, this would probably be the one. A wonderful, soulful rendering leaves you enthralled. Very romantic, simple but very powerful words.

Vaqt ne kiyaa, kyaa hasii.n sitam - Geeta Dutt

Numero Uno playback singer before Lata burst on the scene, and also my favourite.
With no formal training she was the only one to hold her own against Lata in the 50s. She had a tragic life after that.

Following by Lata:
Raina beeti jaye (Amar Prem)
Ek Radha ek Meera (Ram Teri Ganga Maili)
Nainon mein Badra Chhaye - (Mera Saaya)
Baiyan na Dharo - (Dastak)

The best qawwali of all times - Na to caravan. The composition is simply amazing and so different from its times. A work of genius!

Well I love the old songs by Talat mehmood and ghazals by Jagjit singh/pankaj udhas.

Well Senti hone ke liye ek aur song hai "Chitthi aayi hai" by pankaj udhas from film Naam.

Other songs I like are "Main zindagi ka saath nibhaata chala gaya" by Rafi.
"Jalte hain Jiske liye" by Talat mehmood

And lots others by Kishore to name.
