Was Ambedkar a brahmin ?

I just realised that his surname too ends in Kar and may be I am wrong but I have heard that every Maharashtrian whoose sur name ends in Kar is a brahmin

I am simply confused , nothing else .

yeah actually he was a brahmin... but in order to get a job under the SC/ST quota, he got converted... he even went to the extent of writing the constitution of india to suit his newly-acquired caste... lekin uski badkismati uska faida nahi utha saka..

His real name was Ambavadekar. He changed it to Ambedkar in order to avoid discrimination. A local Brahmin allowed himto use his name. Sachhi yaar. Salaa kya jabardast aadmi tha yaar.
