Americans go crazy and run towards malls on the day next to thanksgiving. After pigging out huge turkeys this is the only next logical thing - right! Celebrating the fact that this small fraction of the world population consume lions share of the world's resources.
Here is an interesting protest and activists went on CNBC!
On Tuesday, half a million CNN viewers got a real commercial break as they tuned in to Lou Dobbs Moneyline. Thanks to hundreds of supporters, the Burping Pig uncommercial ran at 6:49 p.m., November 26, alongside plugs for financial investments and guy-talk radio.
It was our biggest TV jam ever, and a fantastic way to kick off the Buy Nothing Day festivities. Media outlets took notice [Wired, The Guardian] and Lou Dobbs tried to keep a straight face while we smirked with glee.
Take a moment to let CNN know how much you appreciated the 30 seconds of Buy-Nothing-Day propaganda.
As the countdown to BND continues, party on with your plans for Friday, November 29, 2002.
Stock up on posters, stickers and handbills available from the Buy Nothing Day page. And be sure to check out the Contact List to connect with others in your neighborhood.
