Latest James Bond "Die Another Day" a damp squib

We saw this movie in the theater over the weekend. James Bond was too alluring a movie to wait for on the DVD, so we decided to spend the bucks and go to a movie hall. I was sure that James Bond means a license to show outrageous stunts and special effects but overall it would be fun.

Well, this time I was disappointed. No, the special effects were great and some of the thrilling fight scenes, etc. were all top notch. The missing part was a plausible story.

Upto now, even Golden Eye, had a believable story. By believable I mean by James Bond standards believeable.

Die Another Day was more like a personal vendetta story. Also they have spent way too much time on Halle Berry - who really does not look anything great in this movie - and less on connecting the story snippets.

Upto now there used to be a definite story and plot about how a villian has built some scientific gizmo and how the villlian intends to use it to destroy the world or demand ransom ,etc.
In this movie the real villianous bit if equipment just appears from nowhere and as usual James Bond destroys it, etc. etc.

FOlks, I have been a James Bond fan and have seen all his movies avidly. SOme of the I have watched several times over... but trust me.. this is not the classic James Bond. I dont expect Sean Connery style James Bond stories but this one is not even upto Golden Eye standards.

The movie was okay, but not as good as Golden Eye. That is my fav bond movie.
