Question Where are the 2002 riot documents Mr. Modi?

Congress slams Modi for destroying 2002 riot documents

By: IANS Date: 2011-06-30 Place: New Delhi

The Congress said Thursday that the Gujarat government had deliberately destroyed intelligence records related to the 2002 riots in the state.

"It is astounding that vital documents pertaining to the carnage/massacre in which the needle of suspicion points directly at the CM of Gujarat (Narendra Modi) have been destroyed. Papers get destroyed in this manner... this is nothing short of a criminal conspiracy to see that the truth does not emerge," Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said.

Terming the act a "criminal conspiracy", Tewari added: "When a matter is under investigation and when these records would have had vital bearing on the developments which took place during those days... they disappeared.

"Such documents if they disappear in this manner or are deliberately destroyed by the state government clearly points toward the fact that the state government is trying to cover up its role in this entire massacre," Tewari said.

Senior Gujarat government counsel S.B. Vakil had Wednesday revealed that records of the state intelligence agency relating to the 2002 sectarian violence were destroyed in 2007 as per "standard practice".

kya country hai yeh

destroyed intelligence record as standard practice

and a pseudo secular party which is involved in more number of riots calling a communal party to show records

hope congress is having SIT records of 02 atleast. indian justice system cannot deliver justice to 84, forgetabout justice to 2002 for next 30 years. Both parties will use this issue till this becomes a non issue

jai democracy

Re: Where are the 2002 riot documents Mr. Modi?

Let me start by saying I am no fan of Congress either (84 Sikh riots anyone). However something does not sit right in this case....

Sure its a standard practice to detroy records after x years, but when there is an ongoing investigation why would Modi's government destroy the records unless they specifically implicate him? On the contrary if those records had absolutely no indication of Modi's involvement then he would have liked to keem them to disprove his involvement. To me it looks like Chor Ki Dadi main Tinka waala case.

Secondly who knows if these records were actually destroyed in 2007 or in 2004/2003....or immediately after the investigation was started. something is definitely fishy here...

Re: Where are the 2002 riot documents Mr. Modi?

The 'practice' was obviously formalized by mediocre bureaucrats. And IS IMPLEMENTED by even more mediocre bureaucrats (all thanks to 'R,Q,C,P). So, without 'doing anything', both the camps have WON!--The seculars can maintain their diatribe without the fear of 'getting caught', and the Guj. Govt., can continue to concentrate on making Gujarat the model State they've nearly already made it, without the impediment of any stupid and vindictive 'court cases' digressing them.

Re: Where are the 2002 riot documents Mr. Modi?

When a politician (even a junior-level one) is accused of some or the other impropriety, the govt in power stalls the investigation while paying lip service to the rule of law. This applies to the Congress, the BJP, Mayawati, Mulayam, Jayalalitha, Karunanidhi et al. So I don't understand what the fuss is about. Given the benchmark, this is what we would expect to happen in our desh.

Major Congress leaders accused of a role in the 1984 pogrom got away scot-free. And so it will be with the 2002 pogrom.

Re: Where are the 2002 riot documents Mr. Modi?

1984 was a proper pogrom.
2002 was a riot (even media people, once blinded by the chicanery of Teesta, have now accepted that it (2002) was a riot). There's a sea of a difference between the two.
