BTW, why there is no rejoice in the media about the verdict? I mean, no euphoria, no lengthy TV shows about the verdict, no lengthy newspaper articles, not much discussion about it.. as if the judgement is a non-event.

Re: J_U_D_G_E_M_E_N_T____D_A_Y : Godhara Train Burning

Just few questions though understand not the day for this.... But, i am unable to CONTROL... SORRY...........

*** INDRESH KUMAR is not even an accused... Yet, RSS is a TERROR OUTFIT.....

*** Sadhvi pragya, aseemanand are yet to be convicted... Yet we have SAFFRON TERROR.... And the ENTIRE SANGH PARIVAR including BJP is TARRED.....

My question is......

We have 5 CONGRESS MEN CONVICTED....

* Mehmud Hussain Kalota, convener of the Congress district minority cell and president of the Godhra municipality
* Salim Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh, president of the Panchmahal Youth Congress
* Abdul Rehman Abdul Majid Ghantia, a known Congress worker
* Farroukh Bhana, secretary of the district Congress committee
* Haji Bilal, a known Congress worker

What should we DECLARE these 5???.... Which color should we ASSOCIATE, with this TERROR???.... Should we not declare CONGRESS as TERROR OUTFIT????.......... Will the SELF PROCLAIMED SECULARS stand up and question this SECULAR party, as they do for each and every action of a HINDU and link it to BJP/SANGH??????..................

The HAND SYMBOL is FULL of BLOOD..... I am sure, if we ANALYZE each and every RIOT in our COUNTRY, invariably we will find the HAND symbol............

Re: J_U_D_G_E_M_E_N_T____D_A_Y : Godhara Train Burning

congress is controlling media which is biggest tool that educate masses, plus all good image of Rahul gandhi is another added advantage to show to youth, BJP doesnt have any young personality that can block Rahul as of now
if you remember there was paid news issue that was discussed by media and politicians but media successfully blocked this issue either by not covering that news or by not discussing it at all

Godhra case: Do 63 acquittals reflect on poor investigation?
Published: Thursday, Feb 24, 2011, 14:52 IST
By Nikunj Soni | Place: Ahmedabad | Agency: DNA

The order in the Sabarmati Express train carnage case gives one the impression that the line of investigation conducted by the railway police right after the incident could be faulty. For, 63 of the 94 accused who faced trial were let off. The order was passed by the special judge, PR Patel, on Tuesday. Among the 63 acquitted, 40 were named in the first chargesheet, and of these, 28 were apprehended from the scene of the crime near Godhra railway station. They all have been released.

Maulana Hussain Umarji, who was named as a key conspirator in the incident, also came out clean in the absence of evidence against him. There was only one statement, of accused Jabir Binyamin Behra, who first named Umarji but later retracted it.

Likewise, Mohammad Hussain Kalota, then president of Godhra Municipality, was named as a key conspirator but was acquitted on Tuesday. According to investigation, local fire brigade personnel had identified him for his alleged role in blocking the road when fire tenders were being rushed to the spot.

The court ruling is significant especially because the final investigation was conducted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by former CBI director RK Raghavan and appointed by the Supreme Court. The probe by the SIT endorsed earlier investigation done by the local police and retained the list of the accused prepared by the state police.

The primary investigation of the case was conducted by KC Bawa, deputy superintendent of police (DySP) of Western Railway. Bawa’s team had apprehended the accused from the spot and filed chargesheet against them in May 2002.

Scrutiny of many documents related to the case reveals that the police had charged many accused for having remained present in the mob with lethal weapons. Even those who were accused of pouring inflammable material inside the coach (according to the prosecution) have been acquitted. According to the prosecution, many accused had been apprehended from the spot with lethal weapons like dhariya, chhara & iron rods. Some were charged with pelting stones at the train.

As to Congress's hand being involved in the riots, I am sure they aren't squeaky clean, but not proven dirty.

So, 'Congress Terrorism' against Hindus has been officially established!
Me thinks it should be called as 'half-naked lady' terrorism.

Re: J_U_D_G_E_M_E_N_T____D_A_Y : Godhara Train Burning

Sigh !! Rationalthinker, I wish our electorate some day becomes smart enough to see Congress in its true light.

Anyway, more on the Godhara case, the court has postponed sentencing to March 1. It is the court's discretion of course, but I hope it writes loooooooong jail terms for the convicts. Having been in the jail for 9 years already, I wonder if their term will have run out or have very little left.

Quote:
2002 Godhra case: Sentences to be pronounced on March 1

AHMEDABAD: The prosecution on Friday sought death penalty for all the 31 convicts in the Godhra train carnage case in a special court here which reserved till March 1 the pronouncement of quantum of punishment for them.

Designated Judge P R Patel heard the prosecution and the convicts inside the Sabarmati Jail here on the quantum of punishment and reserved the order for next Tuesday.

On February 22, the court while upholding the pre-planned conspiracy theory had convicted 31 people on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy and acquitted 63 others in the 2002 train burning incident, which left 59 karsevaks dead.

The incident had triggered widespread communal riots, in which over 1200 people, mainly Muslims, were killed.

After coming out of the court, special public prosecutor J M Panchal said, "We have prayed for death sentence for all the 31 convicted. We have made submission in support of our demand. The matter is now subjudice and I cannot disclose anything further. We will have to wait till March 1".

Defence lawyers A D Shah said the judge has heard the convicts who have sought leniency in their punishment.

The accused have also been convicted under IPC section 147, 148 (rioting with deadly weapons), 323, 324, 325, 326 (causing hurt), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on religious grounds), various sections of the Indian Railways Act, Prevention of Damages to Public Property Act and Bombay Police Act.

11 death sentences in India's Gujarat riots case
By Rajesh Joshi (AFP) – 1 hour ago

AHMEDABAD, India — An Indian court on Tuesday handed down 11 death sentences and 20 life terms to those found guilty of setting a train on fire in 2002, triggering anti-Muslim rioting that left 2,000 dead.

Last week, 31 Muslims were found guilty on conspiracy and murder charges for causing the train fire in the western state of Gujarat.

Fifty-nine Hindu pilgrims perished in the blaze at Godhra station, sparking an anti-Muslim backlash that resulted in some of India's worst religious violence since independence from Britain in 1947.

Hindu mobs seeking revenge rampaged through Muslim neighbourhoods in several cities during three days of bloodshed.

A total of 94 people, all Muslims, had stood trial at a court in Gujarat's biggest city Ahmedabad where they had been detained since 2002. The judge acquitted 63 of them.

Responsibility for the fire has been the subject of fierce dispute between India's Hindu and Muslim communities, and the trial verdicts supported Hindu claims that it was a planned attack.

Previously, a national inquiry concluded that the fire was an accident, though other official investigations contradicted that finding.

The judge felt the crimes fell "under the category of the rarest of the rare", special public prosecutor J.M. Panchal told reporters outside the court.

"There was an active role, as far as these people are concerned, in the conspiracy and also setting fire to the coach," he said.

Extra police had been put on duty across Gujarat to prevent any outbreak of communal violence after the verdicts, but no unrest was reported.

Local authorities had also banned television stations and newspapers from broadcasting or printing the many graphic images taken during the riots to avoid stirring up religious tensions.

During the 2002 slaughter in Ahmedabad and elsewhere, witnesses said baying Hindu mobs surrounded and raped Muslim women, then poured kerosene down their throats and their children's throats and threw lit matches at them.

Gujarat's Chief Minister Narendra Modi -- a prominent member of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -- was accused of failing to stop the riots, and even of encouraging them, with police allegedly ordered not to intervene as the killing spread.

Modi has always denied the allegations. A Supreme Court panel last month criticised him for "partisan" handling of the unrest, but found no evidence to justify criminal prosecution of him.

Muslims have always denied setting the train ablaze on February 27, 2002, though an angry crowd had gathered at Godhra station to protest against Hindu passengers allegedly taunting Muslim porters and hawkers.
Maulvi Umarji, accused of being the mastermind behind the fire, was among those acquitted last week.

The Hindus on the train were returning from the town of Ayodhya, another flashpoint for inter-religion unrest after a mosque was razed in 1992 by Hindu zealots, leading to riots that killed thousands of people, mostly Muslims.

Modi, who is seen by many in the BJP as a future candidate for prime minister, has struggled to shrug off accusations about his handling of the Gujarat riots.

After the train blaze, he quoted Isaac Newton's law that "every action has an equal and opposite reaction" -- words seen as a deliberate signal of support for the vengeful killers.

You see, this judgement means that the victims of the later riots can also now look forward to justice finally done

What look forward... isn't this justice for them too... these were the people who were the root cause for the riots later on... and they have been sentenced to death. Justice served.

Think about it... these are the same people who blame the girl for getting raped... because of the way she behaved or dressed.

Interesting analogy although a faulty one... here the burqa clad gal gots raped as well because someone else was wearing revealing cloths(isnt it a misnomer/oxymoron).

Tu analogy baat kar raha hai ya practical

People got killed because someone else killed people. Now that someone else is punished. Matter katham. Your analogy works too. Isn't that how you use porn
