Re: chor chor mosere bhai

Another old one from India today.

Bihar CM Laloo Prasad Yadav fuses politics and flippancy to produce a formidable style
June 15, 1994 | UPDATED 12:08 IST

More than any other politician, Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav has married politics and flippancy to produce a formidable style.

It may have prompted some critics to compare him to a buffoon, but others know it is a deliberately cultivated image which allows Laloo to browbeat opponents, cajole friends and win over disgruntled party colleagues.

Ask Nitish Kumar, Janata Dal MP and one-time confidant of Laloo. Differences have cropped up between the two over Laloo's unabashedly pro-Yadav tilt at the expense of the less powerful backward communities. At a recent party meeting, Kumar broached the subject.

But Laloo escorted Kumar out of the meeting room and began patting his back, ruffling his hair and generally placating him. When Kumar sought to raise some point, Laloo placed his face towel over Kumar's head, pleading with him not to talk about any problems he may have.

When Kumar insisted that Laloo must address these questions, the chief minister gently reminded him that back home, in Bihar, they were known as Billa and Ranga (the notorious criminals hanged for the murder of the Chopra children in 1978).

The allusion was that divided, they would be doomed. There were no more protests from Kumar.

Re: chor chor mosere bhai

This Janata Parivar may never see the light of the day.. ek bill me itne saanp .. not possible.

Quote:
Janata Parivar: How Nitish Kumar is being played by Mulayam-Lalu

It is common knowledge that the SP chief never looks beyond his family when it comes to giving political power.

Observers believe that the decision to fight separately could harm Nitish much more than Lalu. Since July last year, when both the leaders joined hands, they have avoided attacking each other in public. But problems over seat sharing and Lalu's attack on Nitish for inadequate compensation to earthquake victims in Bihar has led to a open spat. These developments are likely to hurt Nitish more than Lalu as people will question why he aligned with the RJD leader in the first place.

Secondly, the arrest of Ajay Singh, a politician-turned-kidnapper, from an apartment in Lucknow, is evidence that UP criminals involved in high-profile abductions in the state are back in operation. Till now, they had been in hiding as Nitish had cracked down on the law and order menace. Now their re-emergence means Nitish may lose ground.

more here

Amidst doubts over the fate of Janata Parivar merger following comment by a senior Samajwadi party leader, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today categorically said that the chapter is not closed.

"The chapter is still not closed," he said.

Kumar, who was speaking to reporters, was seeking to cap the doubts and raging debate over the fate of Janata Parivar merger in the wake of the statement by Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav that merger was not possible before the Bihar assembly polls due to technical issues.

Kumar said he would suggest Mulayam Singh Yadav to convene a meeting of the merger committee soon to "clear the air and end the public debate over the matter."

Vaguely remember hearing about Sharad Yadav before Laloo/Mulayam duo shot into prominence. I think he was in some DSP (democratic socialist party) Somewhat like before 2002, the best known Modi was Sushil Modi.

The baton went on as Charan Singh --> HN Bahuguna --> Devi Lal and then the Mulayam and Laloo Yadavs.

For all his hard core roots, Charan Singh apparently was still the more decent among the lot.

Sharad Yadav from Janata dal came together with NiKu who was a junior of George Fernandez in Samata Party.. they formed JD(U) around 2002 or so.

Now best known Modi is Lalit Modi
