Bal Thackeray Has Gone Mad

Was reading the news this morning and my doubts have been laid to rest, that this nincompoop is really 100% certified mad.

First he banned valentines day celebration in bombay, now today he has banned any music which uses synthesizers. According to him, this instrument has rendered a lot of our musicians palying tabla and veena jobless. He also lashed out music composer A.R.Rehman stating that his type of music was against our culture.

I just cant seem to figure out what is this man's problem. bhai, is pagal ka koi kuch karo.

Thackeray opposes Valentine's Day celebrations

PTI [ FRIDAY, JANUARY 18, 2002 10:36:20 AM ]

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Thursday night said no Valentine's Day functions would be allowed to be held here.

The Sena chief, speaking on the occasion of release of autobiography of his brother Shrikant Thackeray, came down heavily on Valentine's Day celebrations and said "we should not allow such functions to be held here".

The autobiography titled Jasa Ghadala Tasa was released by noted musician Naushad at a function held in suburban Bandra.

Last year, following criticism by Sena chief, who had claimed that these celebrations were corrupting the Indian culture, Shivsainiks had indulged in vandalism at greeting card shops.

I have posted the report in TOI which can be considered pretty authentic.

As far as his opposition to Valentines day is concerned is nothing compared to the Congress decision to curb freedom of speech by banning the following books

1)The Satanic verses - Mr.Salman Rushdie

2)Lajja - Ms. Taslima Nasreen

3)May It Please Your Honour - Mr.Nathuram Godse.

The banning of these books was done officially and that could tantamount to misuse of political power and crusing of our Human rights. The valentines day opposition could be called a law and order problem which could be taken care of by the Police dept as it was not a Govt decesion.

War Against A New Enemy: The Synthesizer.

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray is all set for a new war against a new enemy: the synthesizer.
Coming at the behest of renowned music composer Naushad Ali, Thackeray has vowed to agitate against musical scores using synthesizers.

Naushad, who was a chief guest at the Bandra function to release the memoirs of Thackeray's brother Shrikant, told the Sena chief that the synthesizer was a threat to Indian culture and musical instruments.

"Many artistes have become jobless because of this instrument. Today, artistes tell their children not to enter the profession because they might get to perform only once a month. How do they feed their families? Our music instruments like the veena, tabla, sitar, violin and pakhwaj will soon become history if something is not done."

He added, "Aaj kal, music ke baare mein main khud pareshan hoon. This new kind of music is spoiling the culture and I feel quite disturbed about it." He urged Thackeray to take up the cause, saying, "Aapki awaaz door tak jaati hain. Aap awaaz uthaiye."

He added, "What kind of songs are these - Main Bhelpuri Kha Raha Tha, Aati Kya Khandala. We used to have good shero-shayri, khyaal, tappa, thumri - they are the real culture of this country. But they are being threatened today."

Thackeray obliged the composer, "Naushadji, you just wait and see what I do." When asked to elaborate, Thackeray would only say that action would be taken, Shiv Sena-style.

Adding to Naushad's condemnation of today's music, Thackeray vented his ire on composer A R Rahman. "His compositions all sound the same - like someone washing vessels," he said.

Thackeray also declared his opposition to Valentine's Day, as he did last year.

Last February 14, Sainiks had burnt greeting cards and staged protests. "Todun taka, modun taka (break things). Burn cards. They spoil our culture and youth," Thackeray said.

Will someone send this moron to some mental asylum.

The case against synthesizers is as stupid as the person himself. It is just like claiming using computers will make the clerks jobless. Sheez there has to be a limit to ignorance, and that to coming from a leader.

And viking, don't give the argument that Congress did something, so Shiv sena is justified in doing the same. It is as stupid as Bal Thackarey himself.
