Re: PK - movie review

I won't waste time watching this movie , or most Bolly movies for that matter.. only few movies like 4/5 a year max for me, only after hearing rave reviews.

Even that 3 idiots movie was like reading a book of jokes. I couldn't dare watch it the second time.

Haven't watched any of the Dhoom movies..

same with Talash.. it was like reading a great story and then it says this was all a dream.

P.S. Guess I'm on oldie who can't stand most of the BS lyrics songs and movies. Been a couple years I heard a decent Hindi song.

Btw,

Re: PK - movie review

People say they are low-intelligence ordinary people and then they can't watch Dhoom 3... I am surprised as the movie was a low-intelligence ordinary movie

Anyways, watched PK. Good comedy movie... though after sometime it seems to become a one-track movie. The paki-angle was literally hilarious... and totally faked-looking. They could easily have used another Indian guy from down south or something... could have been more viable with the sensitive crowd of India. Especially when the one-track was about a big-time guru... a practical no-no, even after umpteen scandals with big-time gurus.

Back to the movie, good comedy... but that's all. They could have made it more interesting and more comic... but the director seems to have toned it down. Would never know why.

If you feed a cow, you are an illiterate.
If you eat a cow, you are an intellect.

He is good. He has a small role ... and a song (tharki chokro). He gets killed in a terrorist attack.

now that is irony.. for somebody behind bars in real life for knowing about terrorist attacks and getting weapons from terrorists. And then out on parole shooting a movie saying his wife is unwell.

He is a blast... or should I say, he is in a blast. Short role... maybe a total of 10 minutes, including a song.

Don't listen to the idiots here. It is a decent movie and not at all an anti-India or anti-Hindu movie. It stresses on my point... that... chewtiya toh lakhon milenge, chewtiya banane wale aur chahiye.

Re: PK - movie review

I found OMG way better than PK.

Unnecessary Paki angle, then appearance of dialogues like (A muslim kabhi dokha nahi de sakta) more than twice, then unnecessary love connection from amir with anushka. It is full commercial movie. People think they are getting more intellectual after watching each Amir's movie while he along with producers having fun time making mockery of Hinduism and generating huge money. Hindu religion is very easy target. No body complains as such and you earn money.

I got this on whatsapp

----------------------

I definitely agree that the movie has funny moments.

If I had to analyze the movie carefully, there were plenty of flaws.

Religion has been around since the dawn of human civilization. Hindu religion specifically has been the bastion for scientific and technological advancement. It is easy to overlook the positive aspects of religion, or the history and nature of the religion and focus on the fringe.

But let's give the movie-makers the benefit of doubt and stick to their theme - manipulative practices of religious leaders. They point out how college students donate money to a street-corner, makeshift idol. They show how one person was given a crazy task to help his terminally ill wife.

Well! While these examples are corny and manipulative, they are benign compared to other religions which demand their adherents to blow up buildings and airplanes, stone people for adultery or throw acid on women! Were the movie-makers too chicken to confront the rabid Islamic priests and took the easy path of attacking Hinduism? The guru had a good retort - "Bomb tum log phod rahe ho, aur jawab de hum?"

Hindu devotees flock to these Mahagurus out of their own volition. Nobody has a gun on their head. I think the guru's advice to the Hindu girl to not marry the pakistani boy was spot on. Even if the boy had good intentions, there are too many extraneous factors to deal with in Pakistan. Uski jab gaand lagegi, tab guruji yaad ayenge!

There was a certain amount of lecturing in the movie that I simply ignored. If the message was "don't lose your rationality in the name of religion", I'll accept that. Nothing more, nothing less.

Re: PK - movie review

I have known and maintained this for long.. most Bollywood collection records are fake.

New controversy: Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ box office collections ‘fixed’? Trolls target scribe on Twitter

In an intriguing tweet, business journalist and Managing Editor of ‘Moneylife’ has cast aspersions on Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ movie box office collections.
According to Dalal, a cinema in Mumbai barely had anyone watching it despite the fact that the movie is ratcheting up its box office collections and has become the highest grosser in India with over Rs 300 cr in earnings – it has also turned into the first movie in India to cross the Rs 300 cr mark and is well on its way to obliterate the all-time Bollywood record of Rs 500+cr mark set by Aamir Khan’s own movie ‘Dhoom 3′.
However, all those figures have not really impressed Dalal, who asked, ‘Who paid?’.
