Re: Poll: Why did Barack H. Obama win?

The way the Republicans F'ed the country for 8 years, I guess almost any Democratic candidate wud have won.
Mccain and palin only helped get it done more comfortably.

Re: Poll: Why did Barack H. Obama win?

McCain threw the election. Obama definitely created the 'race card' as all the blacks voted for him. I am glad that now the Americans will know what 'vote bank' politics is! India suffers from this and now US will suffer too. Go minorities!!

But anyway, now that Barack Hussein Obama is elected, all that matters to see is what happens in the next 4 years.

Re: Poll: Why did Barack H. Obama win?

Also let's not forget Obama had a far superior campaign. Some how he managed to assemble the best campaign team. Look at the way he won the primaries when hillary was all set to sweep and Obama came from no where.

He has far superior organizing skills. This guy used internet like nobody to reach out, he made sure voters were all assembled and provided transportation to folks who could not afford to go on their own, encouraged early voting and postal voting. All these factors enabled him to win both the primaries and the presidential polls. He assembled a large volunteer force that looked at voter registration and all aspects of voting. He has changed the face of campaigning for sure from now on

The Republicans dont even know that there definitely exists a portion among immigrants and minorities which does not support Democrats nor Republicans. The Republicans dont know how to tap into these segments.

As for campaigning, the Republican voter base got it all wrong - they voted MCCain in the primaries instead of a more viable and dynamic candidate like Mitt Romney. Republican voters deserved this landslide defeat not only in the Presidential race but also in the House and Senate.

Republican conservatism has been absent since Pres. Bush bungled up Iraq. He should have fought the war the way wars are fought. He buckled to the liberals and the liberal media and tried to appease the other side. It never works. Search threads and you will find me saying that Pres. Bush is doing the same mistake as Vajpayee did with India Shining campaign - woo the Muslims. It did not work in India and it wont work in USA.

Another thing these dumb Republicans need to understand is that even in minority groups there are people who are conservatives. I am conservative, but they have never given it a thought and never tried to attract them. So for a immigrant or a minority like Hispanics the Republican party always looks very remote and unapproachable.

Now the fun will begin when the next elections come around. Obama's win has legitimised the concept of 'vote bank' politics. Now the black people will expect a black in every election. Soon there will be demands for a Mexican vote bank.

Infact, the Republicans should think of Sarah Palin for President and Bobby Jindal for Vice President in 2012

First know the numbers before you speak, blacks voted about 90% for John Kerry and 95% for Obama, that is not a big shift on the other hand more whites voted for Obama then for Kerry.

Please, being a conservative does not mean I am blind - The race card was used very effectively. What with all this 'historical' moment and all? Why, wasn't Condoleeza Rice at a very top spot in the administration?

I am happy that Obama knows to play politics and has used his race to create a vote bank. Lots of white people who voted Obama have not voted for him but against the Bush administration.

Anyway, it will be fun to watch Hillary run in the 2012 elections

Re: Poll: Why did Barack H. Obama win?

The race card did play some part as yesterday there was news that Barack identified around 600k african americans in fl who had not voted and promptly urged them to vote this time...but then again the economy is the most imp reason (although I want to believe its the "Sarah Palin effect"...) the repubs were hurt..here Mitt Romney would have proven a great choice even for VP...but it definitely wasn't governed by race..who cares what race the fireman is when your "house is burning"
