And how is the experience withthe traditional blades?
I started in 80s with Topaz or whatever else i could find on a Gillette which was presented by my NRI Mausi. It had a feature where i could tilt the angle of the blades.
But after i switched to cartridges and tried to switch black to blades, i found that a bit too rough. I am tempted to switch back after seeing some ads but still remember my old experience. All listing these will get a

I too started with Wilkinson, Topaz and such single blade razors way back in engineering college. Gillete was unheard of.

But to be honest, you will find the cartridge type blades much better than the old single blade razor. I have tried the old single razor, but its no joy. It only helps if you have not shaved for quite a few days and need to tackle a forest on your face.

Only if you are going to a traditional barber shop will you enjoy the single blade razor.

Stick to the newer cartridge types.

So just on a lark, I decided to try something else. I looked at Dollar Shave Club and saw that their products were okay. But before I could order, there was news that they were bought over by some big company.

Well, then I discoverd Harry's. Their blades cost just $2 per blade. And I am already 3 months into using Harrys. Superb blades and not expensive at all!! Do try it.. Its nice.
Similar story for me.

I had settled on two razors: Mach3 and Quattro. And I switched between shaving creams and gels, trying to find the perfect combination that would minimize bleeding in the neck area. I still wasn't able to completely get rid of the cuts. And cartridges are super expensive! Shaving was a chore and I didn't enjoy one bit.

Then, one day I stumbled upon some interesting discussions about wet shaving using double edge blades. Gave it a try, and have been happy since day one. No more cuts, getting nice shaves, and shaving has developed into a hobby.

No more expensive cartridges, gels, creams. Happy with the kit I've been using for the last few years (assembled from Amazon).

Charchilla bhau can you share what's in your shaving kit now?

I have Harrys.com shaving kit but I do not use their shaving gel. I use the humble Barbasol shaving foam

Charchilla, I can vouch for the Nivea Post Shave balm.. Very good, smooth and a nice fragrant smell. I use it.

I am not into double edge blades and shavers since engineering college. I used to use that with Wilkinson blade back then.

True, my kit is also very cost effective and it's going to last forever. I get a great joy when I walk past isles of expensive razors and cartridges

After shave colognes'/ balms either make your skin too oily or too dry.. the one that has worked for me has been Gillette after shave gel (blue)

My morning routine is - get up, pee, brush teeth, shave, apply after shave balm (Nivea), breakfast, coffee, big shit, shower. So the after shave is washed off during shower.
