As it stands ... another mass shooting in the US, this time by a 64 yr old white man. At least 50 dead and 200 or more injured at a country music concert. I don't think many desis are enamored with country music.

Its probably the shooting then. I saw the early news when it was still being suspected that it was an explosion. perhaps it was a shooting.

Dirty - hope your mistress is okay. She is usually hustling outside these concert venues.

Calling a gun owning, country music listening, deranged old white guy who has lived in redneck towns for years affiliated with isis, is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. These are desperate times for ISIS, if lighting strikes and kill couple of people, ISIS would happily take its responsibility as well.

There will be a few days of some folks saying "gun control" - and other folks saying "guns don't kill people - people kill people". Chances are nothing will change - and this is just a reality US will have to live with.
That has now morphed into something else - "more guns in the hands of white people"!
Who was Stephen Paddock and what was his motive?

The gunman responsible for the worst mass shooting in modern US history is believed to be a grandfather who lived in a remote desert home, reports Leon Watson.

Stephen Paddock, 64, was named by police as the perpetrator who left more than 50 dead. He was killed when officers blasted their way into his hotel room.

Where was he from?

Paddock is reported to have lived in a retirement village in Mesquite, Nevada, since June 2016 and was born on April 9, 1953.

It is claimed he previously lived in Reno, Nevada, from 2011 to 2016, and also had an address in Melbourne, Florida, from 2013 to 2015.

He has also lived in Henderson, Nevada, and several locations in California since 1990, it is reported.

Mesquite is located about 80 miles, or an hour and 16 minutes, away from Las Vegas, along Nevada’s border with Arizona.

Mesquite, a city in Clark County, is home to about 17,400 people, including several retirement communities, along with casinos and golf courses.

Did he act alone?

Despite initial reports of multiple gunmen, police do not believe at this time that there were any other attackers.

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, described Paddock as a "lone wolf".

Officers were initially seeking his travelling companion - Marilou Danley - who has now been located. She is believed to have been his roommate.

At this stage, Paddock does not have any known ties to terrorist organisation and no motive has been put forward.

When asked by a reporter if it was an act of terrorism, Sheriff Lombardo said: “No, not at this point. We believe it was a local individual. He resides here locally.

"I’m not at liberty to give you his place of residence yet, because it’s an ongoing investigation, we don’t know what his belief system was at this time. … Right now we believe he is the sole aggressor at this point and the scene is static."

Was Paddock known to authorities?

NBC reports that he was. But public records do not show any criminal convictions for Paddock in Nevada.

Mesquite Police told CBS News that he was not known to them, and that he lived in a retirement community, is a white male and wasn't a military veteran.

What was his motive?

He was not believed to be connected to any militant group, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told reporters.

"We have no idea what his belief system was," Lombardo said. "We've located numerous firearms within the room that he occupied."

Mandalay Bay Las Vegas Shooting October 1, 2017 - YouTube

Funnily enough it turned out the shooter was white. Terror has no race.
Now the long and tough process of deciding whether to classify this as terrorism or "mental illness" begins.

Funny but kind of true:

As a Romanian satirical news website once said "ISIS claims Bucharest traffic jam".

There was also an ISIS video in May calling for a lone-wolf attack on The Strip. Perhaps that is why they are claiming credit.

ISIS lol.I didnt know they were recruiting non muslim elements. The hurricanes are also ISIS.

The term "Terrorism" is only utilized when Muslims commits act of violence.

According to Nevada state law, it defines Las Vegas mass shooting as an act of terrorism.

A Muslim kills... he must be terrorist

A Black dude kills... he must be a thug

A White man kills... he has mental illness and lack of mommy's attention

I like how when this attack was intiially being blamed on those "evil Moslems", it was a forgone conclusion that this was indeed a terrorist attack. Fast forward 6 hours later, and now it's not?

Amazing...give yourselves a pat on the back westerners.

What particular was entertaining was the slow progression on the media about this being an Islamist terror attack to a lone crazy gunman. It literally went from:

Refugee

to

ISIS homegrown terrorist

to

White man who converted to Islam

to

Crazy white man who is part of Antifa

Am I getting this correct so far?

Re: Hope no on is there in Vegas right now...

Some emotional pictures.
i recently engage and know the pain to lose loved one.

One of my friend's 's friend's brother received three bullets in chests at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival still his condition is critical.

In the past I've heard the excuse that the USA has so much violence because it's a mixed culture still finding it's footing, but look at this...

https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chor...per_capita.jpg

Australia is just as much a country of immigrants as the USA. So why the big gap? There is clearly something within American culture that feeds violence. Unlike Australia, minorities here kill minorities. Immigrants here commit more crimes than immigrants in Australia. And the "good'ole" WASPs aka, the real Americans, are almost exclusively responsible for most of these mass shootings. So is it just the greater access to guns, or is there something more?

Sort of. Automatic guns are mostly banned. If he was as wealthy as was claimed he could have easily bought the expensive ones that predate 1986, however. It's also possible he used a hellfire trigger to 'upgrade' his semi-automatic.

https://media3.s-nbcnews.com/j/newsc...-2880-1000.jpg

It's always easy to say "guns don't kill people, people kill people" until your loved one is among the dozens shot to death in an senseless gun rampage.

Changing gun laws won't change mass shootings. It might have some effect on gang violence but probably not much. Plus it's a political dead end.

But I would like to see "bullet control" instead of gun control. Sell all the guns people want to buy, but restrict bullets. 1st, bullets should only be sold in, or near police precincts, with ID's, and serial numbers associating that box of bullets to your name. Also, all bullets should be build with steel mico-pellets that have serial numbers embedded in the lead. This would not prevent mass shootings, but it could. This guy had thousands of bullets. If he could only buy one box at the time, at a police station, and his purchases were recorded, he could have been "red flagged" in the system, and stopped from buying more. Maybe investigated for stockpiling bullets. Etc. This could have dissuaded him from following through, or he would have been caught ahead of time.

Gun control will never succeed, but bullet control might.

Re: Hope no on is there in Vegas right now...

Benjamin Paddock, Las Vegas Gunman’s Father, Robbed Banks and Fled F.B.I.

In his early 30s, Benjamin Hoskins Paddock, the father of the gunman who opened fire on concertgoers in Las Vegas on Sunday night, killing at least 59 people, sold garbage disposals and worked as a repair man in Tucson. But he also had another source of income: robbing banks.

During an 18-month span in 1959 and 1960, Mr. Paddock hit two branches of the Valley National Bank in Phoenix, making off with $25,000, according to an article in The Arizona Republic in October 1960. The authorities caught up to Mr. Paddock in Las Vegas.

He was convicted in 1961 and sentenced to 20 years in federal prison, when Stephen Paddock, the Las Vegas gunman, was 8. Mr. Paddock was sent to a federal prison in West Texas.

Mr. Paddock served less than half of his sentence in Texas. In 1968, he escaped from La Tuna prison and made his way to San Francisco, where he robbed another bank that June, and eventually traveled up the coast and settled in Oregon.

He altered his appearance, shaving his head and growing a forked goatee, and changed his name to Bruce Werner Ericksen.

In 1969, the F.B.I. placed him on its Most Wanted list, describing him as 6 feet 4 inches, 245 pounds and “diagnosed as psychopathic.”

Probably not .

But his motives are not certain yet . And from where did he get such a vast stockpile of arms and ammunition?
