Is it simply arithmetic that worked in MGB's favor?

Re: Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 Results

A note Regarding the Rajya Sabha calculations after Bihar elections

5 Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar will be vacant due to retirement of 5 JD-U members in 2016
6 seats from the state will be vacant due to retirement of 4 JD-U and 2 BJP members in 2018.

The numbers which the NDA got in Bihar Assembly election result on Sunday will, however, get it only 1 out of 5 Rajya Sabha seats in 2016 and 1 out of six seats in 2018.

Which means ONE SEAT loss for NDA in this election.

Larger picture of Rajya Sabha will be like :-

78 Members of Rajyasabha will be retire by Aug 2016, out of 244 members.

Out of these 78 Rajyasabha members, due to retire by August 2016, only 15 are from BJP. 63 from various other parties.

The 15 BJP Rajya Sabha members due to retire by Aug 2016 are from: UP, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, MP, Chattisgarh & AP. In other words all 15 seats will be retained by BJP for sure.

Out of remaining 63 seats (78-15) 7 seats are nominated seats, which means Government will recommend the name and will be considered under BJP.

Out of remaining 56 seats, (63-7)
5 seats are from Maharashtra, so 3-4 seats are sure to come under NDA.
3 seats are from Rajasthan,
6 from Punjab,
3 from Andhra and these seats come under NDA Government.

Out of remaining 34 seats,
BJP will lose out on 6 seats from TN,
10 from UP,
2 from Telangana,
2 from Assam and
5 from bihar and
1 each from few other states and
win 3 seats from MP and CG.

Current NDA seats in Rajya Sabha is 64.

Now Let’s Add it and get the final tally for August 2016,

64+7+17+4 = 92 seats.

To pass any Bill Government needs more than 50% which means 122 seats.

Now NDA are lacking only 30 seats, which can easily be provided by AIADMK and BJD.

Along with that - Absence in Rajya Sabha also leads to victory.

So, Modi was going to fund Bihar with 1.25 lakh crores package if BJP was elected in Bihar. Good thing the Biharis didn't get into his blackmailing or bribe depending on the way you see it. Also, I thought Modi came on the promise of "Sabka saath, sabka vikas" but didn't know the definition of "sabka" meant those state where BJP is in power. You can keep on thinking that it was because of caste based politics but actually BJP lost because of the right wing fringe and promoters of Pakistani tourism in the party.

Re: Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 Results

Looks like Biharis agreed with Nitish when he said he will not accept money from Modi.

Prollem solved, already Modi gave a large chunk (80K crores) of 1.25 crores to those who are busy working (J&K) than those who wanna kiss criminal Lalu's ass for power at any cost. By joining the sickular brigade Nitish has signed the contract of lifetime bondage to corruption and jungleraj.

Misa Bharti .. Lalua's dotter is saying she should be CM, RJD have more MLAs. The fun begins.

Nitish lost ground, his own party will screw with him now, came down from 90 odd to 70.

Re: Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 Results

Can't be possibly true. Data Analysts may throw some light.

Sena, which contested 100 seats in Bihar elections, claims that it was ahead of BJP candidates in as many as 35 constituencies.

But BJP is also at fault, non of pre lok sabha promises have been kept, there is no check on inflation but huge plans for increasing taxes.
Modi is only talks, sapno ka saudagar.

Agreed. Officially, inflation is low. But dal prices are highest. Such statistics are OK for newspapers but not for votes.

Big promises were made. Educated & literate class may be aware that it will take at least few years to get started. But basic stuff like dal going out of reach for general masses which expected nothing short of magic immediately, is a sureshot harakiri.

That will be a typical hardcore SS supporter.

Question here is - is that claim even correct?

Re: Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 Results

One thing that people have forgotten is that BJP is much ahead of other parties in Bihar as far as parliamentary seats are concerned. So Biharis want Modi as PM but Nitish as CM.

Re: Bihar Assembly Elections 2015 Results

Does anyone know what promises Nitish made? or He didn't make any promises? or he promised along general lines?

The problem with people is when you don't make any promises, they don't ask you anything. If you promise them 10 things, deliver on 6, they ask, you failed and didn't deliver on what you promised.

The best is to follow congi line on this, do not put yourself on the pedestal, do not make yourself accountable then everything is hunky dory.

What do you mean?? BJP won majority seats in LS polls. What is there to forget (or not forget) in that? People can't change their PM choice anytime they wish.
