Bihar simmers as anti-MNS students take to streets
23 Oct 2008, 1622 hrs IST, PTI

PATNA: Violence continued unabated in Bihar on Thursday with agitated students indulging in arson and vandalism at several places as Biharsharif observed a complete bandh against the killing of an examinee in the brutal attack allegedly by MNS activists. ( Watch )

Scores of violent protestors ransacked the railway station at Motihari, headquarter of East Champaran district, smashing glass doors and panes of reservation and ticket counters before setting a police jeep ablaze, Superintendent of Police N H Khan said.

Khan said the protestors, who resorted to violence two days ago, also damaged kiosks and eateries on the platform and badly damaged a fire tender, following which the police baton charged and chased them away.

"The situation is completely under control with the arrival of CRPF reinforcements to assist the district police in controlling the situation," he said.

Biharsharif, headquarter of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's home district Nalanda, observed a complete shutdown to protest the killing of Pavan Kumar, who was brutally assaulted by MNS activists.

The government has already announced a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh to the family of Pavan, a resident of Bara-khurd under Noorsarai police station.

Protestors clashed with the police at several places in the town leading to "mild" baton charge in which a few agitators received minor bruises, Superintendent of Police Vineet Vinayak said.

chapai, bihar is an unruly state, thats taken for granted

some facts to ponder:

1) the public litigation filed against Raj thakray was by a muslim named XYZ.... good man, i salute for ur courage.

2) Police, politicians, public prosecuters(read sarkari lawyer) were with raj thakray in all the recent cases, how would you justify raj thakray asking policemen to keep distance from him in court...he asked policemen ..chal re hawa aane de...and policemen scattered away from him, later when released...an inspector opened the private car door for raj thakray.

3) in bihar, stopping trains and disrupting traffic, even setting the coach on fire, they evaccuated the coach, not harming a life.

4) police acted swiftly in bihar, fired bullets on protesting STUDENTS (read goons), killing 2 of them, had the maharashtra police had balls to act similarily.

5) no political party in bihar has come openly in support of protests and burning trains...though they have condemned both raj thakray and protests in bihar.

6) congress govt. in maharashtra did not act against raj thakray, or even when they did, they made sure that he comes out well and clean...this was done to devide bala saheb's vote bank of marathi manoos, they know well that raj is a novice and cant win the coming election...but he sure can cut a share in balasaheb's vote bank, that gives an edge to congress and NCP.

balasaheb should now strongly think of wooing back Raj Thackeray somehow... I can't stand Congress or NCP winning the next election too in Mah...

Re: Now Bihar students setting trains ablaze to protest MNS

I think we are approaching a point where Bihar is excommunicated from India.
