Thinking

What is the language you think in when talking to yourself or planning something. What was the language during your teen days or before shifting to a new place.

For me during my childhood days I used to think in hindi and later on during my college days it was a mixture of english and hindi.Again its a mixture of hindi and english.I think your thinking language is influenced by the language you speak frequently during the day.

What say ?

Re: Thinking

I never had to think in one language and then translate into another. At home I always 'thought' in Marathi. At school I always thought in English. With friends and others I always thought in Hindi.

But when you are alone ?
Suppose you are planning for tomorrows presentation at the office what language you will think in.

When working on office problems, or thinking of writing a tech proposal or an email, etc. at work, I naturally think in English.

I cannot think in Marathi like 'Sanganakachya kaam karnyachya shakti che ...' (CPU processing power) and then translate in English

Re: Thinking

toothi-phooti-gaawad angrezi!

That is how we communicated@home/school during kiddo days and that is how we (parents, madam sprite etc) communicate now. So even thoughts follow same toothi-phooti-gaawad angrezi-language pattern...
