Re: Travel Diary thread

Does in India also, people believe that at the end of the rainbow, there remains a pot of Gold,.?

Many have found it's ends,.. but there was no pot of Gold !

Re: Travel Diary thread

One of my friends was always telling me, that the rainbow is, in fact a Full circle.. and he confused me a lot.

Later, I thought, if it was a full circle, then it should be very very far and away from the earth's Horizon
( never be seen above our head and such - though it is visible, if in the morning then in west direction and if in the evening then in the east direction - naturally, 'coz the sun must be in the opposite direction to create the prismatic effect )
and if it is so,... it should never show its ends ( like those pictures ) on the Earth grounds....

'Coz earth diameter is very large...... and for showing it up on the sky, that is above the earth,
it must end somewhere on the earth.

It can't make a full circle,.. unless it's seen a very far, beyond the horizon !

Incidentally, my daughter also captured a small section of a rainbow last week.
Camera used was Fisher Price

Yes, rainbows appear on the opposite direction of the sun. They can form full circles. You need to be really up high in the sky to be able to see the full circle. If you have a birds eye view (like a captain in an airplane flying really high) then its possible to see a full circle.
If you are on ground, we get to see only a section of it or the arch.
