Asking for second time! What effect will this vicious propaganda campaign have on tourism? Kisi ko pataa hai taaza aur authentic khabar?

I donno about the adverse effects yet, but on opening up the visa on arrival, tourism should pick up tourism in a big way, and the FM has announced that they are extending it to 150 countries now.

In a neutral way, I feel one should be careful and aware when visiting any foreign country. A related movie could be 'The best exotic marigold hotel'.

I think people would exercise the same level of caution whenever they are leaving their own country; it doesnt matter which country. There are certain regions (Syria/Egypt etc) which we all avoid like plague. Others, we just exercise caution and go anyway.

13:05 India's daughter-real reflection of what society thinks: Udwin: While on India's Daughter, the film's producer Leslee Udwin has said the banned documentary is "a real reflection" of what society thinks.

"It's a real reflection of what society thinks. And, you know, in a sense, there's nothing surprising about those comments. This is a society that treats girls as unequal from the day they are born. It treats them as unwelcome when they are born," Udwin said in an interview to the PBS news channel.

"Sweets are distributed in celebration at the birth of a boy only, and a girl is a disappointment. And from that moment in her life onward, she continues to be discriminated against. Her value is far, far less than that of a boy. Of course, you will end up with a society in which men think they can do what they like with women because they have no worth," she said.

The film, banned in India, was premiered in New York this week, and Udwin, who has been accused of violating law and not abiding by the agreement with the Indian agencies which gave her necessary permission for the interview, has been appearing on mainstream Indian media for the past several days.

Prominent among these allegations include that she signed that she would not use the movie for commercial purposes

Now in response to Udwin's 'India's Daughter', a documentary made by an Indian Harvinder Singh titled 'United Kingdom's Daughters' reveals the situation is much worse in western nations and 250 women in the UK are raped daily.

According to the documentary 'United Kingdom's Daughters', one-third of Britons believe women are responsible for rape. It also claims that killing figures are low in the UK as women do not resist rape.

The same was said by death row convict Mukesh. He admitted that had the girl not fought back or resisted, they would have not killed her and just beat up her male friend who had accompanied her on the ill-fated night of December 16, 2012.

Moreover, in UK not all rape survivors get justice as only 10 per cent rapists are convicted in the country, says the documentary.

But as Harvinder Singh claims in 'United Kingdom's Daughters', rape is a global phenomena and the mentality of those committing the heinous crime is the same all over the world.

Re: Interview of Nirbhaya’s rapist

My opinion:

This documentary is nothing more than the fallout of India stepping into the great game great nations have played throughout history. So far India didn't matter in this game because we were never any kind of player to begin with. India before this government was a rudderless nation which never stood up for itself or its own interests or those of its people.

But all that has changed with the coming of the Modi's government. With the coming of this new NDA government. the other great powers of the world have finally awakened to the fact that our nation, Bharat, has at last awoken from her thousand year old sleep.

Has there been gruesome rapes before this incident? Absolutely! Will there be gruesome rapes after this incident? Absolutely! Rape is rape and it is an act of abhorrent global violence that has always existed and will always continue to exist against people of both sexes so long humans continue to be humans.

So what has changed exactly? The answer lies in the fact that Indians have finally learned to vote as a nationalistic people. Is it a coincidence that some international watchdog suddenly woke up to announce that they shall start monitoring air pollution levels in Delhi all of the sudden? Were they not aware of this pollution before the coming of the Modi government? Where we not aware of this? Of course, all of us did. But it matters only now just like this documentary. Why? It is because in the great game, every nation has to continuously demean the civilizations of its rivals to stay ahead in this game. You see people, the clash of civilizations continues at every level; economic, military and quite importantly, social and cultural impressions.

We better learn to play this game now and fast. It is time for Indians to wake and smell the coffee. We have slept for a thousand years already and we cannot afford to sleep any longer.

I did not watch all of it but left some good words for the Sardarji who posted it.
The concept is clear after a few minutes.

Re: Interview of Nirbhaya’s rapist

This could actually go into the racism thread too. Sharad Yadav does have a point here.

Yadav was criticising the proposal to hike FDI in the insurance sector from 26 per cent to 49 per cent and also “our affinity” to the white skin. He talked about how Leslee Udwin, director of the documentary on the December 16 gangrape, must have “got it easy” acquiring permissions because of her skin colour.

Did UK ban it yet for it to be as popular as India's daughter?

rather than banning and whining, this type of a docu is the proper response.

But there were rules broken in the making of the documentary in the first place. That needs to be fixed. I see the hand of NDTV in both. If this Sardarji has violated any rules (probably copyright), he should also be similarly pulled up.

Normally the guys would check the travel advisory. i checked UK travel advisory and here it is

Over 800,000 British nationals visit India every year. Most visits are trouble-free.

Tropical cyclones are common, particularly off the east coast. You should monitor the progress of approaching storms and follow the advice of the local authorities, including any evacuation orders. See Natural disasters

There is a high threat from terrorism throughout India. Recent attacks have targeted public places including those visited by foreigners. See Terrorism

The Indian government has relaxed the rules on re-entering the country while on a tourist visa. See Entry requirements

Sarvi, I do not believe there was any political motivation for making this India's daughter documentary. I also dont believe the producer/ director made this movie with the intent of defaming India.

Having said this, any documentary which is made just as a retort to prove a point (UK's daughter) will never be as sucessful as the original itself. Now, I have not seen this video yet, time permitting, I will see it.

I would put it this way -
a. The lady wanted to make the film for her own reasons. Although the praises she mounts on India are apparently missing in her docu (i have not seen it)

b. NDTV wanted to make this a big hit, got the telecast rights, marketed in a big way. And i see NDTV behind the film maker getting permissions too.

The combination of a and b is that the already battered image of India with respect to women is battered even a bit more. The lady may not have intended to defame India, but that is what happened. i see more a hand of NDTV in this than the film maker her self
