Re: Should alcohol be banned completely across the world ?

Women themselves are taking ban in their hands, probably they had enough.

In yogi land, Hindu women are after alcohol and muslim women are after tripple talaq

And I think both could be decent wins, if implemented.

Same with Haryana - Prohibition in 96. Not sure when it was abolished.

It is an easy ploy to win elections, but then after some time the governments realize that there is a heavy revenue drain.
of course it is a big revenue drain.
Can you sell alcohol at a price where the price tag varies between rs. 100 and 10,000 (just a random figure). This will help prevent illegal and harmful circulation. Perhaps you can decrease the alcohol content or the percentage to reach lower levels? I dont know.

Re: Should alcohol be banned completely across the world ?

I didn't read all the comments, but just the title.

My response is NO. Alcohol should not be banned completely across the world. That is a stupid question that doesn't require further elaboration.

Re: Should alcohol be banned completely across the world ?

Looks like global sales are coming down anyway.

Overall, last year was a tough one for beer and wine. Global alcohol volumes across all types fell 1.3%, a steeper decline than the average 0.3% drop over the past five years, according to industry tracker IWSR. Beer volumes fell 1.8% around the world in 2016, while wine sales slipped 0.08%. Yet sales of hard alcohol like gin, tequila and whiskey eked out an increase of 0.04%, and mixed drinks, including pre-mixed cocktails and some flavored alcoholic beverages, grew by 1.6

Re: Should alcohol be banned completely across the world ?

India is a country full of bans... Illogical bans at times... Anyway, I know that we are a third world and will remain a third world forever, at least by mindset. So no point arguing or discussing.

And those patriots who take offense at me calling India third world .... yeah, you can flame me

Only if you ban something, it's demand will increase

Punjab house passes law to bypass Supreme Court’s highway liquor ban

Chandigarh administration and the Rajasthan government have changed the definition of state highways (to district roads) to dodge the Supreme Court ban on liquor within 500 metres of state and national highways, the Punjab assembly on Friday passed the Punjab Excise Amendment Bill, 2017 changing the definition of “sale of liquor”.
