Beans poriyal (stir fry)

In a pressure cooker (small would be better), layer as below:

1. 1tsp oil + 1/4 cup water
2. 2 cups chopped beans
3. 1/2tsp each (salt, chili powder), 1/8 tsp turmeric powder.

Do not mix them, just layer and keep.

Close the cooker and cook on high for 2 whistles. Release pressure immediately (manually using a spatula). mix all. Add tadka.

Takes me 5 mins.

@Raniraja, pls try and let me know

What kind of tadka ?

I guess by "beans" you mean the regular French beans ? Not a good season these days, the market has huge sized beans which are tougher than the regular ones. Will surely try if I find good ones in the market.

Replace beans with chopped carrots

My tadka usually consists of: Oil, mustard seeds, cumin, asafoetida, 1 red chili and curry leaves.

Re: Beans poriyal (stir fry)

so 2 tbsp oil for 2 cups of beans? ain't that much? Wouldn't it be easier to cook in a covered pan with 0.5 to 1 tbsp oil and other things you mentioned for 10 minutes and be done with it? Also, pan is easier to wash than cooker.

You missed the tadka oil. And I will never understand how time travels in your world. 5 minutes, yeah right ! Like preparing beans (washing and chopping) for putting in pressure cooker is not accounted for at all.

How much oil do you need for 2 cups of veggies?! I said 1 tsp oil for tadka.
Perhaps i should have been clear, 5 mins cooking time. Going forward, i will mention it in the recipes.

P.S: I pre-make tadka. you got it, in a pressure cooker. i store it in fridge.
