Should we trust the news from CNN ...

CNN chairman Walter Isaacson issued a memo this week that said, among other things about war coverage, "As we get good reports from Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, we must redouble our efforts to make sure we do not seem to be simply reporting from their vantage or perspective. We must talk about how the Taliban are using civilian shields and how the Taliban have harbored the terrorists responsible for killing close to 5,000 innocent people."

Mr. Isaacson has indirectly issued a memo to CNN staff not to report facts as it is....

No freedom of speech in American any more.....
Last month White house stopped Osama's videos now this..... and many more.....

Post CNN is always biased against US

Just as US troops are landing in Afghanistan, the CNN correspondent in Afghanistan reports how strongly entrenched the Taliban are... How they are fighting great and all that...

Now as a US compnay does not the CNN understand that they are downing the morale of the US troops who have just landed??

Imagine you are a soldier going to war in Kashmir against Pakistan. And imagine our Door Darshan says how strong and well equipped the Pakistani enemy is... What will you feel???

Come one... CNN has been showing footage of some bombed civilian huts due to a couple of stray missiles in Afghanistan and never once did they showa mutilated body of a WTC victim.

About OSama videos... Osama now has only Al Jazeera network to send out his message. He might be using some code language or code by way of gestures in his videos to signal some more things to suspected terrorist cells in USA. So there is nothing wrong in not showing him here. And showing Osama all the time sort of makes him a media spotlight. Why give so much importance to a terrorist who has screwed USA and also India by way of supportng the Kashmir militancy?

In a war there is no need to be oh so open and free and being all fair. After all the terrorists never thought of the thousands of lives that would be affected by bombing the WTC.

I find this stupid and downright idiotic and morale killing. It looks like CNN is more for Taliban than the US.

Why only show plight of Afghanistani people?? The Americans who died on Spetmeber 11th - are they worthless?? Were their lives expendable??

Atleast Doordarshan does not show such crap.. it never showed such crappy news reporting despite being a government run organisation full of inept people and bureacracy during the Kargil crisis.

Tell about the better alternative. IRNA or Afghan Islamic Press?

Grow up, the press here is far more free than the ones you seem to idolize.

BBC is much better than CNN.
NPR is the best ( National Public Radio).

For that matter russian and french media are far more objective and truthful. Consider the fact that US is at war and take into account the reporting of CNN and compare it with other countries,
See the difference?

Oh yeah I would rather read an opinionated but free media, than something which is blatant propaganda, also pronounced as the media in islamic countries.

www.pravda.com

I honestly think samachar.com gives one a complete picture with headlines from several Indian papers.

Read Le Monde and Liberation . Quite good ones. Though International Herald Tribune has best editorials, and go and read St. Petersburg times if you get chances.
Most of them are available in web.

I am saying that CNN is being so biased and only showing the Afghan side of things and that too blown out of porportion. Especially about the suffering of Afghanis after the bombing started. On the same hand there are NOT showing the suffering of the American people. Not even a single dead body of the WTC attacks.

Is that clear what I am saying??

Okay about Doordarshan - Our Doordarshan does not show biased news just when our troops landed in Kargil area to fight Pakistanis. Whereas CNN shows how well entrenched the Taliban are and how this and how that. What about morale boosting of US troops??? Doordarshan did a better job during Kargil!

Is that clear what I am saying?? The analogy .... clear???

Do you want to watch burnt dead bodies and body parts.... Thats going to scare the hell out of Americans people as it is they are scared to death. One side you talk about morale boosting american troops on the other you want them to shit in their pants.
BTW not many bodies were recoverd from WTC mos t lot of body parts showing them on TV for people like you will be very disturbing for famliy and freinds of the victoms.
