Question Weekend dillemma - What to watch?

Okay folks, I know we have a review of Sankat City already and also Short Kut, but there is no choice.

As a movie addict, I need to watch something. In the afternoon I saw a very good Marathi movie, very realistic and political and emotional. "Tya ratri paus hota" (It was raining that night). Its a good movie about emotions, family and politics. Check it out on www.apalimarathi.com

Anyway, there is one more online movie - Dekh Bhai Dekh among new releases.

Which should I see?

Re: Weekend dillemma - What to watch?

Here is a review/synopsis of the Marathi movie I saw - 'Tya Ratri Paus Hota'

Quote:
Most appreciated 3 star Rated Movie -- Socio-political criticism has remained no more a new thing. Many political satires and feminist issues were introduced in different films. What makes Gajendra Ahire always outstanding is the rich permutation –combination of story, plot, dialogue and direction present in his mind at a time. His treatment to traditional issues gives them novelty. This time, his ‘Tya Ratri Paus Hota’ gives us the treat of socio-political thriller. Two travelers moving towards different destinations but sharing the same past-this theme has gained a new life in the hands of the director Gajendra Ahire. The movie starts with raining. It is a time of election fever. A journalist named Avinash (Subodh Bhave) raises a question before the politician of the area (Sayaji Shinde). Avinash is now kidnapped and sent to the guesthouse where he meets Raavee(Amruta Subhash). They recognize each other and the glimpses of their past are flowed. The interest should be maintained in experiencing the thrill in the movie, rather than telling the further story. The artistry of the director lies in his successful creation of a breathtaking suspense. The recurring references to violin, to a train passing from a bridge, to the rain, to the ‘Sahebrao’ and to the murders he has committed-darken the suspense and underline the theme of past.Thae Marathi main stream film industry is jam packed with comedy films. But even in the era of commercialization, few directors are making the efforts of going with good scripts, social message and ethical values. Their main object is to provoke the society rather than making profit. Gajendra Ahire’s ‘Tyaa raatri Paus hota’ keeps the same essence alive and stands out strongly in the trend of so called comedy movies.

Cha, can you make it sticky ... or can you all post it in this thread regularly ... with a 5 month old baby and a wife that sometimes feels that we are missing out on our outings, please feel free to post what movies are you watching over the weekend ... someday we are going to get some time out together to rent one of these and watch at home ...

Re: Weekend dillemma - What to watch?

BTW, I watched (all alone ofcourse, wifey too busy with work), this movie "Duplicity" ... I liked it ... the twist in the movie was good ... but at the very end one can sense what the twist is ... I would probably rate it 6.5/10

Dekh Bhai Dekh is also boring movie. There is nothing in the movie and i stopped half way. The movie drags on, with nothing to keep you in seat. So skip it for sure.

Will watch the marathi movie you suggested.
watch some Engligh movie, or cartoon series... that is what I do

I managed to watch Dekh Bhai Dekh online within 1 hour. I fast forwarded all the songs which were just crowbarred into the movie. Also fast forwarded some overdrawn out scenes. Had the film been edited well, it would have made a very good 1 hour TV serial episode from start to finish.

Its about 4 people - Gracy Singh plays Babli who has been kicked out by her in-laws, then MungeriLaal Ke Hassen Sapne actor plays a politician wannabe who wants to be a elected neta, then that tall funny comedian plays role of a thief who wants to marry his lover, and then a newcomer who plays the role of the son of a bhangar dealer.

All four set out together, on Gracy's idea, to steal a Sri Krishna murti from the local temple. They do manage to steal it. The film is supposed to be engrossing and entertaining on how they bumble about after the theft. But the movie just goes on and on and the climax is a total anti-climax.

Boring, not even worth that one hour with fast forwarding.
