Arms Sales

During a discussion someone said to me that US gives a lot of aid to African nations and does a lot of good in general to maintain peace and stability.

I read up a bit and found that US has 50% share in world arms business. Its revenues are close to 40B USD and the second highest is Russia's 10B USD. That being the case how does it help to maintain peace. Or is it that US usually sells arms only to good guys to protect themselves from bad guys? Quite possible because Obama won Nobel Peace prize and US had its highest share of 70% of world's arms trade in 2011 when he as the Prez.

Re: Arms Sales

BTW, I read that US sold arms close to 66B USD in 2011 - 3 times that in 2010. How can they assure peace by arming everyone?

What one misplaced comma does - 3.602 lakh crore vs 3,602 lakh crore. Do these guys proofread even once before publishing?

proof reading .. what's that? These days they scan internet, copy the facts and rephrase the news.

A friend of mine clicked photos recently at rose festival in Chandigarh and put them on facebook.. a local hindi newspaper copied his pics, profile pic and attributed a poetic line to him in next day's newspaper. All this without his permission.
