'Shape of Water' review

It is a movie about a gungi having sex with a fish-man. I had no idea what this movie was about. My better half dragged me to this movie since the Oscars got bent out of shape with this movie. Toh dekh liya!

After the movie was over I was scratching my head whether I liked it or not. The story, as I said earlier, was about a gungi and fish-man romance. It is a period movie. It is somewhat a musical. It has some gaudy, kitschy visuals. People behave as stereotype characters. The villain is a macho man general in an aerospace , where he finds the fish-man in the Amazons. He then tortures him and decides to kill him. Why? I am not so sure. The heroine can't speak. She is lonely and masturbates every morning. I didnt make that up. The movie shows her masturbating every morning, because she can't find a partner. He best friend is an aging gay dude going takla. They both are lonely. She has a black friend who is also lonely. The two chics are cleaners at the aerospace place where they torture fish-man. The chic falls in love with fishman and sneaks him out to her apartment. Then they fall in love and have sex. That sex scene weirded me out.

The aerospace people track them down. Then there is gunfight with the russians. Yes, there is some russian twist to it. Eventually some tragic shit happens. To find out what the tragic shit happens, you will have to watch the movie.

And if you do watch the movie, please do let me know if she dies or if the fish-man revives her. I fucking lost interest at the end.

What kind of award it won? Certainly not for the story I believe.

Re: 'Shape of Water' review

It won best picture, best director, best music , best this, best that .. and a dozen nominations.

After mulling on it for two days, I can say with relative confidence that it was a chutiyatic movie, unless you are into crazy animal porn.

Re: 'Shape of Water' review

So... after the bird-man, now it is the turn of the fish-man... to freak everyone out. Biggest regret watching bird-man. Don't think this fish-man will ever be on my menu.
