Large number of fake voters in Delhi: AAP complains to EC

Aam Aadmi Party claimed that there are a large number of "fake" voters in Delhi and alleged that it was result of collusion among local level officers, against whom it sought exemplary action.
Holding that free and fair polls would not be possible if such discrepancies are not dealt with, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday met Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath and Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Chandra Bhushan Kumar to press for the removal of anomalies in the voters' list for Delhi.
Charging that collusion among local level officers was a factor in this regard, the former Delhi chief minister demanded "strong" and exemplary action against them.
"Large no. of fake voters in Delhi. Some local level officials colluding. EC assured strong action wud (sic) be taken against such officials," Kejriwal said in a tweet.
"We did our check and found that some 3,96,914 voters have more than one card against their name, totalling 11,50,509 voter cards. We have compared the names, father's/ husband's names and age. These three fields match in all cases. Then we compared some photos randomly.
"We discovered that the photos are also matching in a number of cases. We are attaching such cases as examples. Photos have to be compared manually and we did not have the manpower to compare photos in all these cases. Therefore, we would treat these as suspected cases," Kejriwal said in a letter to Delhi CEO.
He also submitted three CDs to the poll body which were said to contain details about the irregularities.
At a news conference, Kejriwal said his party had also compared the voters' list of Delhi with those in neighbouring Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and found several discrepancies there as well.
"We found 14,71,025 voters in Delhi's list, whose names, father's/husband's names and age match with the names in Haryana's list. In case of Uttar Pradesh, we found 12,53,779 voters in Delhi's list. We have also given the CD to EC and said free and fair elections would not be possible in such a case.
"We all know that just before an election, people from the neighbouring states are brought in to cast their votes," he claimed.
Suspecting foul play by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Kejriwal also called for action against those among them who are found to have facilitated the discrepancies.
"So, there is some conspiracy and the BLOs could be involved in it and are working in collusion with some political party. We have demanded strict and exemplary action against them," Kejriwal said.
"In Delhi, the discrepancies are such that we found one person with more than three cards on a single booth and in another instance, one person with three-four voter ID cards in one constituency," said AAP volunteer Ankit Lal.
"The maximum number of voters using single picture that we found during our exercise to find #Delhifakevoters is 114," Lal tweeted.
Saying that over 1.5 lakh people have registered as fresh voters in Delhi, the party said EC should put up their details on a website for verification.
"There are several cases of exclusion of people from the voters' list. In Matiala constituency, some people's names have disappeared from the list. Names which have been deleted should also be restored.
"In all cases, either an individual could be involved or some political party is messing with the voters' list," Kejriwal said.

For this only EC has delayed the elections from December to mid-Feb .. updating, printing and finalizing voters list in Delhi.

many people have conveniently forgotten we had umpteen elections since Gujarat 2002. For many Indian journalists, even USA's elections will be a test of Modi.

The most hypocritical thing is that if the BJP wins the election with a good victory, that win will be instantly forgotten. For the press, the BJP can never win.

A survey is showing BJP may get clear majority in Delhi while AAP will be opposition.
BJP 35-40 while AAP - 20 to 25 .

ya, I think BJP can push more and get like 45 - 50.. provided they show mahangai is not rising.

Some rumors of Smriti Irani could be CM candidate for BJP.. dont think that will happen but you never know.

Re: Aa gaya aa gaya halwa wala aa gaya

This is being dubbed as a fight of prestige by onlookers. It seems BJP is ahead of its rivals.
I am very pleased to see Congress's plight who are reduced to 2-5 seats prediction.
Amazing thing is congress supporters still want Soniya and Raul at the helm!

Re: Aa gaya aa gaya halwa wala aa gaya

Quote:
Former Delhi CM Shiela Dikshit was taken to task for suo-moto lending support to AAP in Delhi the Assembly polls if it fell short of numbers.

It is learnt that an angry Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi dispatched senior party leader B K Hariprasad to enquire why she made such a statement. When Dikshit tried to ward it off saying TV channels came all of a sudden and it was a slip of tongue, Hariprasad told her point blank that the five TV channels were invited by her for lunch and she later gave a detailed byte which by no stretch of imagination could be "off-the-cuff'. Sheila looked suitably chastised.

The Gandhis do not want more trouble before the Delhi polls, hence no formal notice was issued to her.

After saying that Congress could support AAP in case of a hung verdict in the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls, the former chief minister found herself on a sticky wicket as her party ruled out any possibility of its backing the Arvind Kejriwal-led outfit.

"How does the question of supporting AAP arise? (If that was the situation) then there was no need for elections. It must be her personal view," Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza had said.
Everybody makes mistake in the Congress, except for the Gandhi dynasty.

One wonders why she spoke out of turn. This seems to be quite deliberate, not a mistake.

She was mainly trying to scuttle AAP's chances by announcing Congress support. Effectively she has admitted and perhaps conceded that Congress stands no chance again this time, it can only play second fiddle to AAP at the most.

I get a feeling she has said all this to better the chances of BJP and give them indication to go easy/slow on her pending cases, given BJP is likely to form govt in Delhi.

Re: Aa gaya aa gaya halwa wala aa gaya

One reason why AAP may do better than last time is:

many voters did not expect a 1st timer to win so many seats.

since that is disproved, it is possible the hope is ignited in them and they vote for AAP this time.
