Escape from Taliban - worth watching once

We also saw one more movie this weekend.

It was Escape from Taliban starring Manisha Koirala. Its based on a real story of a Bengali girl who married an Afghani man and moved to Afghanistan against her family's wishes.

The period id 1984 when Taliban had just started raising its head. It gives a inside look at how Taliban came to power and how they trampled women. Manisha has acted well though the director is quite new and sometimes loses the grip on the story line.

Worth a watch once.

I think it was 1994.

Overall, a very chaatoo movie full of cliches and stereotypes. Watched the second half in fast-forward.

The director has shown extreme ignorance in certain situations. For example. the moment the heroine steps out of the car in Afghanistan, they show that a sheep is slaughtered at her feet, and then a man tries to put TILAK on her forehead. A Tilak in Afhanistan?

But yeah, since the movie is supposedly based on a true story, it can be watched once. But I can bet, you won't be able to keep your eyes open thro'out the movie.

Plus, it seems to be a dubbed movie. The lip-synch is not there.

Biggie

I think the woman escaped in 1994-1995 and had been in Afghjanistan since 1984.

Anyways, this was the first movie about the Taliban since they were bombed out recently. Also Manisha factor was there so we saw it.

But one thing for sure, any woman who wants to marry anyone is fine.. but puhleeease think twice before marrying someone from Pukistan or Afghanistan.. Atleast read up on current events there and then make a decision.

Charcha I think Taliban started raising it's head in 94.

But yeah, the Afghani guy was a real b@stard. A third rate sonofab1tch.

Sahi bola biggey, manna padega Koirala ke movie selection ko, first ‘ek ch000di hui love story’ then ‘Escape from Lulliban’, seems like agla stop ‘Gulabi raaten’ type ki movie hogi.

Waisey yaar I read a article long back about original victim (that bangali lady), describing she is famous for having illicit relationships with fatehaal muslim country labor working in Calcutta, it wasnt first time for her, wo iskey pehle bhi ek bangladeshi ke sath bhag chuki thi (that totally removed from the story) but then return back after few months.

Sorry no link to confirm that.

Yeh naya angle hain

She already had run once before to Bangladesh??

I cannot but laugh that her standards are so low the next time.. First Bangladesh and then Afghanistan??

Anyway.. Bhai log.. I only said Worth Watching Once because it had shown Taliban and how they were brutal.

Other than that I found nothing interesting in the whole film.

damn stupid and annoying movie....

was manisha's voice dubbed? it came out screeching in entire movie... esp when she cried

i just completely failed to empathize with that character...

like biggie said, movie was full of cliches.... directory gladly sacrificed logic at times in order to focus on portraying taliban as barbaric...

- for example cooking in the month of ramadan... hey, 'eating' is forbidden... but as i know it, in muslim families... cooking goes on entire day for iftaari

- 'tilak' with slaughtered goat's blood... that was funny. in muslims there is no concept of 'tilak'

and many other things... it made movie look biased, programmed, manipulated, rather than a true account.

in any case the production was below average.

Arey yaar tempo, tum bhi kaha us movie ke jhasey me aa gaye, wo bandi ek baar ek RMP compounder ke sath bhi bhagi thi aur bus, doctor ban bethi

Joke apart, let me found out the link now, she wasnt doctor woctor, sub saala hool thi us movie mey.

Dilli me kai doctor dekhey he jo, 2 mahiney kisi doctor ki dukan ka jhadu lagaya aur khud doctor ban bethey, irony is, sometime they make real doctor run for his money
