Paalitix - Then and Now
Essentially my memory dumpings triggered by current news.
Like This one - Amid speculations over Nitish Kumar becoming a prime ministerial candidate by a non-BJP front in the next general elections, the Bihar Chief Minister today said he only desired to become an MP and did not nourish a dream to become a PM. “I had only desired to become an MP at least once in life … I had never nourished a dream to become a minister, chief minister or prime minister,” the Chief Minister said at a function to launch a biography of ‘Super-30’ founder Anand Kumar here. “Some people are trying to defame me so that I do not ever desire to become a PM … but they are doing it uselessly as I do not harbour the ambition to become a PM,” Kumar said in an apparent dig at BJP leaders who have been making “adverse” comments on him. I do remember Nitish Kumar speaking about 1999-2000 to NDTV that he was not fit to be the CM of Bihar. Cant find the link now. But will post it when i find it.

Re: Paalitix - Then and Now
1995- Ram Jethmalani starts a party 'Pavotra Hindustan Kazhagham' for 'clean politics'
2016- He gets elected to RS with RJD support. Of course, he is defending Laloo Yadav in fodder scandal.

Re: Paalitix - Then and Now
Uma Bharati in 1992 - "Ek Dhakka aur do, Babri Masjid Tod do". She was right there at the scene of action.
After 24 years - Not fielding Muslims in UP a mistake: Uma Bharti Obviously, HT, TOILet, etc. are merrily relaying this news.

Re: Paalitix - Then and Now
In all this controversy over governors and well known changing politix since Indira Gandhi's times, one guy stood out. He was Surjit Singh Barnala RIP.
He was a union minister in 77 Janata govt and was often seen with his Akalimate PS Badal. However, when Rajiv Gandhi Negotiated Punjab Accord with Longowal (who was killed by Khalistanis within weeks of the accord), Badal was upset and Akali Dal split. Barnala became the CM of Punjab in difficult times and did his own bit only to give way to presidents rule and emergency later. VP Singh wanted to revive Akali dal and sent Barnala as Governor to Tamil Nadu and Badal was back in Charge without any competition. Then Chandrashekhar came with Congress support. One of the things happening was top topple Karunanidhi Government on some pretext. There was pressure on Barnala to recommend President's rule. But he stood his ground and resigned rather than reccomend president's rule. The next governor anyway reccomended fresh elections and Amma rode to power on Rajiv Gandhis sympathy wave But when in power, Karunanidhi ensured that Barnala was the governor even when he was on the opposing political side (2004 onwards Karunanidhi was in UPA but Barnala was in NDA)

Re: Paalitix - Then and Now
35 years after NTR was spearheading the anti cong movement his Damaad (alludu in Telugu) wants to make him turn in his grave by allying with Congress.
Justifying his alliance with the Congress, Chandrababu Naidu, who shared the dais with Rahul Gandhi in a couple of meetings on Wednesday as part of a poll campaign for People's Front candidates in Telangana, said there was a democratic compulsion for non-BJP parties to come on a single platform. link

I must say I am disappointed in Naidu. I thought he had vision and will power to make changes for development. Perhaps I am biased and cannot see any Congress allies making developmental way forward? Perhaps Naidu has an ace up his sleeve with sops for Telangana (where I have heard there are going to be muslim only schemes)?

Re: Paalitix - Then and Now
![]() So, there is this Mamta Banerjee Rally heavily telecast by NDTV. Nothing unusual. Now, possibly except for Congress and Kejriwal, all other prties had sometime or other supported BJP. Even Didi was at one time a Rail Minister in ABV govt. Sharad Yadav was an aviation minister. Of course there are also Yeshwant Sinha and Arun Shourie. Shatru Bhaiya is still a BJP MP.
