Savarkar
Mani Aiyer, the closet commie has asked ONGC to remove a plaque inscribed with an ode to freedom by the great Marathi freedom fighter Vinayak Damoder Savarkar!
Mani says he is NOT A FREEDOM FIGHTER because he died a natural death, and had made 'several petitions' to the British! Like all congressmen Mani has no qualms in singing Iqbal's Sare Jahan Sey Achha. How low can these congressmen sink in their hatred for the Hindus? (THOSE WHO ARE PROUD TO BE HINDUS EVEN IN PUBLIC--unlike Nehru who "WAS EMBARASSED TO BE A HINDU".

This country did not deserve a person like Veer Savarkar
Aiyar must apologise, says Savarkar's son
By: Yogesh Naik August 27, 2004 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vishwas Savarkar says, “Gandhiji had great respect for my father. In fact, he had told Kasturbaji to pay her respects to my mother, Yamunabai, as she had suffered a lot since my father had been jailed’’. Pic: Rane Ashish “Mani Shankar Aiyar wants to wipe out my father’s name from the history and politics of India,” said a visibly irritated Vishwas Savarkar, the son of legendary freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. In an exclusive interview with Mid Day, Savarkar said that Aiyar’s remarks were based on pre-conceived notions, which were untrue. Added Vishwas Savarkar (77), “His decision is absolutely insulting and he must apologise. True nationalists will forgive him only if he orders the reinstatement of my father’s quotations in the Port Blair jail.’’ Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar had recently ordered the removal of a poem penned by Savarkar, which was inscribed on the ‘swatantrya jyot’ at the Cellular Jail at Port Blair, Andamans, where the fiery freedom fighter spent 11 years. Aiyar was reported to have issued the instruction during a visit to the jail on Independence Day. Vishwas grew up in Savarkar’s company in Ratnagiri where the freedom fighter spent time from 1924 to 1937. Vishwas, who was around 12 at the time, remembers those days clearly. In 1927, three years after being released from Andaman, the freedom fighter had been staying in Ratnagiri. At the time, reminisces Vishwas, Mahatma Gandhi had visited their house with his wife Kasturba. “Gandhiji had great respect for my father then. In fact, he had told Kasturbaji to pay her respects to my mother, Yamunabai, as she had suffered a lot since my father had been jailed.” He says that the general notion in this country was that Savarkar had apologised to the British. “The truth is that my father had realised that it was impossible getting out of Andaman jail where he was serving a long sentence. It was therefore difficult to work for the freedom movement against the British, while he was imprisoned. Therefore, as a part of his strategy, Tatya (as Savarkar was called by Vishwas) appealed to the British to set him free, but the stance was diplomatic.” Vishwas Savarkar stays in Savarkar Sadan, a building at Dadar. His two daughters are married. The allegations about his father disturb him and he feels that the Shiv Sena and BJP are justified in their agitation against Aiyar. But he also acknowledges the pro-Savarkar statements of Sushilkumar Shinde and Prabha Rau, who belong to the same party as Aiyar’s, and also the one issued by the NCP chief Sharad Pawar. He reiterates that his father was not a Muslim-hater at all. In fact, he had two close Muslim aides, Sir Sikander Hayat Khan and Barrister Asaf Ali, and also two Christians in his Abhinav Bharat movement. During 1942, Savarkar refused to support the Quit India Movement and said that Quit India should not lead to split India. Savarkar turned against Gandhi chiefly because of the two-nation theory. Vishwas feels that the misunderstandings in India about Savarkar is because people have not read about him. http://ww1.mid-day.com/news/city/2004/august/90936.htm

Problem with some politicians is that they wont let the past be the past.
I am sure that many in BJP dont agree with Gandhi or Nehru but they dont go trying to malign the deeds of Gandhi and Nehru. |

![]() What is amazing that is the country has been entrusted into the hands of lowly, shit filled, blood sucking, venemous secular scoundrels like this Mani Shankar Aiyar who is a stigma on India!
A person who maybe cannot even prove his worth more than a pile of Pig shit is allowed by this Kaangress party to take pot shots at some personality as great as Swatantraveer Sawarkar. It's a shame! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mani matters: The Sena bomb TIMESOFINDIA.COM [ SATURDAY, AUGUST 28, 2004 02:24:36 PM ] On Friday, Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, albeit in effigy form, got some undivided attention from Shiv Sainiks in election-bound Mumbai. They unambiguously called it the jode mara (hit with shoes) agitation. ![]() The ire at Aiyer because he ordered the removal of a plaque with Veer Savarkar’s quote from the Cellular Jail in Andaman. The fiery freedom-fighter, whom the Sangh Parivar has since appropriated, spent 11 years in that jail. The Veer Savarkar issue rocked Parliament in the Budget session and the BJP-Sena are leaving no stone unturned to ensure this is the main electoral issue in the Maharashtra elections. Even a threatened Congress-led UPA government has distanced itself from its own minister saying "we do not agree with him". Conveniently, Mani's detractors have some additional ammunition at hand. Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, who cast the first shoe at Aiyer's effigy, this week drew heavily from what journalist Dhiren Bhagat wrote almost two decades ago about Aiyar, to term the Congressman a "traitor". Among other things, Bhagat wrote an unsigned article in 1986 about Aiyar and his days at Cambridge in the 1960s. Aiyar was then press aide to PM Rajiv Gandhi. Now, senior BJP leaders can be spotted in the Capital carrying photocopies from the compilation of the writings of Bhagat (who died in a road accident in 1988 aged 31), titled The Contemporary Conservative. The BJP is grinning all the more because the book was edited by Aiyar's Congress colleague Salman Khursheed. This is an extract of the relevant portion from Bhagat's book, written under the title PM's Press Aide in the British magazine Private Eye, "Fired by an envy of those who were even more privileged than himself and unrestrained by good sense Mani became a communist." In a recently published poem, 'Home Truths', Delhi's very own Thribb confessed, "So, as I fretted that adolescence/Into painful manhood/ I plotted revolution:/ Swore by Marx/(But no, never, by God) That coiffures/Shall be laid to dust/And layered sandwiches/Shredded to the ground." "In 1962 China invaded India and while we (ineffectually) fought the yellow bastards and wives knitted sweaters and donated their jewellery for the nation's defence – this privileged a***ole romped about the Backs as General Secretary of the local Communist cell raising money for the Chinese! In a just world he'd have been strung and quartered the day he came back home; the world being what it is, Mani had the gall to apply to join our foreign service. "The police – reasonably enough – considered him a security risk and handed the examining authorities the file on him; Aiyar's family pulled strings and the President finally intervened to ease Mani's entry to the service." The Editor of the compilation notes that an "interesting love-hate relationship had developed between" Bhagat and Aiyar. That "while Mani Shankar never tired of venting his expletives on Dhiren, the latter could seldom resist a sarcastic aside at his expense." An isolated Aiyar, not terribly popular even among his own partymen, has turned decidedly taciturn since the Savarkar issue blew up. Comments have been few and far between, usually terse dismissals of the Sena-BJP charges. Though attempts by Timesofindia.com to get Aiyer to comment failed, he reportedly told a wire agency that Dhiren Bhagat had reported a "lie" in the British magazine Private Eye. "I did not publicly deny the article that time as I was joint secretary in the Prime Minister's Office and civil servants are not allowed to defend themselves. But privately, I had spoken to Bhagat on the article." "If the only evidence they (the NDA) have is an article by a dead journalist in a British magazine which is prone to defamation suits, I am entitled to an apology," he told the agency, adding he had stated on the floor of the Lok Sabha on February 5, 2004 that he had "never collected any money for the Chinese on any occasion." http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...how/830585.cms

Aiyar's criticism on Jinnah, Savarkar unacceptable: DMK
Press Trust of India Posted online: Monday, August 30, 2004 at 1411 hours IST Chennai, August 30: DMK president M Karunanidhi on Monday criticised Union Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar for his remarks against Veer Savarkar and Mohammed Ali Jinnah and said one should not make remarks on those who were no longer alive. "It is not good to comment on those who are no more", he told reporters after a meeting of the DMK-led democratic progressive alliance here. Asked about Aiyar's remarks against Savarkar, he said, “Savarkar fought for principles, which he considered right". He came down heavily on Aiyar's remarks that Jinnah and Savarkar were responsible for the partition and described it as "totally unacceptable". "Those who are aware of the freedom movement and the conditions that led to the partition and creation of Pakistan will not accept Aiyar's statement", he said. Aiyar's remarks that there was no difference between Jinnah and Veer Savarkar, as they were responsible for the partition, would hurt the sentiments of those who respected both leaders, he said. He also described as "barbaric" the Shiv Sena's agitation against Aiyar in which party supremo Bal Thackeray hit an effigy of the minister with slippers. http://www.expressindia.com/fullstory.php?newsid=35592
