Thumbs down

London, Jan. 18: Britain is unlikely to sign a United Nations convention on stolen treasures following the advice of an expert committee, a recommendation that has historic consequences for India.
The draft minimal legislation introduced at a United Nations meeting prepared by the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law provides for retrospective moves that can allow a country to claim back stolen treasures lodged in another country.

Signing this agreement would open the legal doors for India to reclaim the Kohinoor and countless other Indian treasures in British museums and with the British royalty.

The Unidroit draft, prepared in Rome in June 1995, sought to empower governments with laws to check “the pillage of archaeological sites and the resulting loss of irreplaceable archaeological, historical and scientific information.” The United Nation’s draft legislation sought to introduce “common, minimal legal rules for the restitution and return of cultural objects between contracting States.”

A panel of experts appointed by the British government has made a limited recommendation that the British government sign the Unesco convention of 1970 against trade in stolen and illegally exported treasures but opposed the signing of the draft Unidroit legislation proposed in 1995 to give a legal edge to the 1970 agreement.

The panel recommended that Britain join 91 other countries in signing the Unesco agreement without agreeing to any minimum legislation to be agreed internationally.

The British government is now considering the 16 recommendations of its panel. The two principal recommendations are that Britain sign the Unesco convention and that it introduce “a new criminal offence of importing, dealing in or possessing stolen or illegally excavated cultural objects.”

If the British government signs the Unesco convention as recommended, it will serve as a strong deterrent to continuing the flourishing trade in stolen antiques from India that is routed through London.

UK the biggest thief/bandit/pirate world ever seen !

Just wondering...... if we sue UK for all the robbery, human rights violation, harrassment and claim the goods that they took from India; what the total bill would be... billions or in trillions of $?

Question smarty bhaiyaa

Why do you think ..UK is not a chor(thief) ?
It is a world known fact that .. UK had stolen all the treasure and wealth of not just India but ...many other world countires. You need prrof or list of these countries ?

Infact it had tried to steal the most wealthiest thing from human race ..i.e FREEDOM

u know how many people in india laid down their lives to get back the freedom ..right ?

UK is a very hypocratic country .. it talks about world peace and houses the head offices of all terrorist groups.
U name a terrorist group u will find their office in London.
MQM, LTTE..

now read this article below ..and see how is it promoting terrorism in kashmir.
I know that u live in UK ..and its natural for you to be a bit SENTI about ..but the reality is this .

London, Jan. 21: Around 900 young British Muslims leave the country each year to take part in jehad in J&K, reveals an investigation.
Indian officials are meeting UK Foreign Office representatives and MI5 officials in New Delhi on Monday to discuss the matter and demand Britain take stronger action to prevent recruitment and fundraising. The Indian estimate is that 1,800 Britons are travelling each year to Kashmir.

The security service MI5 estimates about 900 UK citizens make this trip for training. About 10 per cent stay and fight, the rest return after political and religious indoctrination and contribute in fundraising and recruitment. Many of the UK Muslims use holidays from good jobs to fight what they call a holy war.

They are recruited in mosques, bookshops and community meetings and are sent to mountain camps on the Pakistan border to train for three months before entering the fight against India.

The Sunday Times spoke to three men in North London who fought in Kashmir. All are university graduates from middle-class British families, two had highly paid jobs. “I waited for an opportunity to kill the enemy. The Indian soldiers do not deserve mercy,” said Izzadeen Abdullah.

And I think 900 UK muslims dont leave for training, the latest figure is 1800 according to the news today morning (Independent Radio News)

It must be noted that all the taliban n such terrorist organisations are allowed to operate from UK because UK has not rated them as terrorist organisations even though they have taken the responsibility of killing so many people in India(the brits are bloody hypocrits)

That Island!

Economically that England is very badly off amongst the western european countries no wonder it's known as the
Poor man of europe.

It's the first country where the goons run to for shelter no wonder Nadeem of the Nadeem Shravan duo went there after killing that kumar guy!.

Come to think of it since UK houses goons and criminal elements like Taliban etc Pakistanis thrive there and outnumber our Indians!!.

Well Well

If you speak to the brits here, they have the bloody impression that kohinoor was gifted to them by some stupid Indian prince. And even if these maderchoot britishers sign the treaty or whatever, India will be in no position to proove that kohinoor was a stolen from India,

Britishers are clever people and will prove that Kohinoor was actually infact a gift to them from Indians. So where is the question of stealing???And where is the proof for that.....

History is history........and dead people cannot come back
