Question

I am now concerned about the morale of the army and one more important thing - procurement of much needed arms and ammunition.

Now that the latest arms scandal has been exposed on videotape, no one in authority will sign a approval order that easily. I mean, they will be so scared and just sit on the fence and delay things that it will affect the army.

Do you think that our system of arms procurement will be seriously affected? What will be the effects on the army due to this scandal in regards to getting the necessary items?

What if we have a Kargil tomorrow? Are we prepared with the latest arms that were ordered when the first Kargil took us by surprise?

Thumbs up The effect

Your foot soldires will definately be affected.Their morale is low and will half heartedly fight in wars.
They might also follow the path of corruption of their leaders.

I don't think so.

If it does....well well...guess what?

I would not be surprised if the Army took over the Defense supply procurement with ABSOLUTELY no interference from the govt. authorities.

sorry dudes...was not in office the whole day yesterday, so couldnt post. So here goes......

I dont think there is going to be much off a difference in the moral of the forces. Everybody knows the amount of corruption even in defence procurement well before the tehelka exposure. So that is nothing new.

As for the question of kargil happening again and are we prepared. I would say it will be around a 50/50 chance. Our defence procurement if you ask me kinda screwed up in many ways. The problem with our procurement is that we go for quantity and not quality. There are a lot of 5th generation weapons available in the market today to be used by all three forces.....and our DOD is not even evaluating them. We want to stick to our World War 2 allies and be coochy woochy with them....but that doesnt help for they are in a forse situation than us. Comeon, during the kargil episode, our soldiers didnt even have night vision binoculars or thermal imagers compared to what the enemy had. So what can we compare. Our command and communication is still being debated in the MOD as saying that it has been perfected since the episode. They had the same opinion about that before the episode and we still got kicked. So u can see the gaps everywhere.

I think the problem is , that we have had defence ministers who doesnt know a damn thing about weapons and technologies. It would be really wise of our PM to now go ahead and find someone from the forces who atleast knows what he is procuring. But that wont happen.

So its a simple catch 22 situation. We have to live with what we have. For i dont see a chane happening either in the procurement or any other sector in the dod happening soon.

The whole thing makes me sick and seethe with anger. But as it has always happened, even these ba*tards would go scot free inspite of holding the security of the nation to ransom to fill their own pockets.

In times like these I tend to understand what makes some people take to rebellion (some call it terrorism). Just make all these unscruplous, filthy motherf**** , who tried to sell the nation's defence, stand in a line and shoot them in the stomach (not in the head). Ba$tards !!
