Trending PM says he is worried about future of parliamentary system

I can understand that the Opposition needs to protest and demand answers to their questions, but despite the CBI taking action and the Congress party cooperating, our Opposition parties choose to waste time and tax payers money.

Quote:
PM says he is worried about future of parliamentary system

BERLIN: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said he is "worried" about the future of the parliamentary system in the wake of a complete washout of the winter session of Parliament on the 2G spectrum issue.

Expressing the hope that reason will prevail over Opposition, he said the Government has repeatedly told them that existing mechanisms can do what a Joint Parliamentary Committee can do.

"I am worried about the future of the Parliamentary system. I hope reason will prevail (over Opposition)," Singh told reporters here.

He was responding to a question about Opposition parties indicating that they will persist with their demand for constituting a JPC to probe the 2G spectrum allocation during the Budget Session early next year threatening further stalling.

"I am sad that Parliament was not allowed to function. We told the Opposition repeatedly that existing mechanisms can do what a JPC can do," he said when asked about the deadlock in Parliament since November 10 a day after the Winter Session began.

About Opposition criticism that he was abroad when so many important issues had to be dealt with urgently at home, Singh said: "These are all pre-fixed appointments. If we don't keep it who will take us seriously? Anyway not much is happening (in Parliament)."

The Opposition has been accusing the Prime Minister of remaining silent with senior BJP leader Arun Jaitely saying he should not be seen losing his "will to rule".

The BJP and other Opposition parties have been unrelenting in their demand for a JPC, but the Government has refused to accept it.

Ghanta CBI taking action

even a kid know CBI is lap dog of gaandressis...They have given enough time to Raja & Co. to prepare for their defence and clear the documents. Also, in this furor CWG scam is almost forgotten.

For Congress, Parliament merely means getting 'legal sanction' for the loot of India!
Opposition is doing Indians a humongous favour by 'blocking' Parliament!

Instead of blocking parliament, opposition should go to the public and ask them to remove the government.. but in parliament they must respect the major party ..if not then in what kind of democracy they does beleive?

If opposition does not raise issues in parliament, what is the function of parliament? Rather than going to public, its the parliament where such issues are to be debated. But when the govt clearly supporting corruption and wants to sidetrack the justice system despite clear evidence from its agencies like CAG, opposition has no choice but to stall the parliament. This is called democracy. Not the kind of democracy that kangressis are used to, where everything 'the family' says is the rule.

Wow! He is worried about the parliament but he is not worried about how much corruption his govt's ministers are involved in? Speaks volumes about the man. He should be ashamed because he was proclaimed by his kangress party as a man with honesty and integrity. If he had any of those qualities, he would not head a cabinet thats full of thugs! A Raja (telecom scam), Jaipal Reddy (CWG scams), Vilasrao Deshmukh (26/11 mishandling, Adarsh scam) are prime examples of corruption in his govt. No action yet! Yes, he should be worried about parliamentary system because his govt is acting more dictotorial every passing day.

But Opposition will immediately, on formation of JPC, say 'Congress bad' without even going into details and investigation. They are prejudiced from the start.

It appears you are prejudiced against opposition more than congress. JPC can call even prime mnister for enquiry. As far as CBI is concerned they are unable to solve Aarushi murder case in past two and half year. What makes you think they will be able to solve this?

What a idiotic statement. I would much rather be worried if opposition is not playing role and making sure that govt is doing their job.

And Mr Manmohan is talking as if this is happening first time and didn't happen during NDA regime There is nothing wrong in this as oppn wants JPC as everybody knows CBI is govt toy. Now that his ass has touched 2G shit, he is suddenly worried about future of Parliament. Fuck you Mr clean !
