Re: Bahubali - The Conclusion

It is talk of the town now.
One gult channel was covering its release like an election showing queues in various cities at 7 AM.

Re: Bahubali - The Conclusion

Awesome movie!

First half drags a bit but movie becomes gripping closer to the interval as the plot thickens beyond the romance of Prabhas and Anushka. Second half is absolutely phenomenal. Great visuals and amazing background music to support the war action. Totally worth the 3 hrs spent in the hall.

Many people are wondering if this part is better than the 1st part. Difficult to say. But movie is worth watching and has repeat value at least for me

I know many will say whats the big deal, we have seen better VFX in Hwood movies and that kind of comments. I think that would be insulting the effort of the makers and the plot that has a complete Indian angle to it. IMO it is comparable or sometimes better than Hwood movies in the visuals and costumes department.

Completely justified. It is not like the hype around Bwood Khan movies or Rajinis past 2 movies. Rajinis movies were utter disappointments even without any hype - no content, no good acting, nothing. Whereas this movie has everything it promised and a lot more

My only gripe against it is the jacked up ticket prices. Although it is in a way justified because it is a big budget movie, I dont think it is fair to jack up prices. More so in the mulitplexes. I took my whole family (10 members) to a single screen theatre in my town which is in a lot of ways (cleanliness, screen and sound quality, snacks pricing) better than a multiplex. We spent half of what we would have spent in a multiplex.

Re: Bahubali - The Conclusion

I heard Telugu tickets are at $33 this weekend, compared to Hindi tickets at $11. I was telling a co-worker how he must be wishing he'd known Hindi.

Thats because Madrasis are rich and can afford $33 or $50 for movies. Or, perhaps theaters are trying to keep that crowd away

Shit, I confused Telugus and Madrasi again.

BTW, it is a masala movie. Just clarifying...in case the arty crowd starts bashing me for going gaga over the movie.

When did the first part get into dollar theatres in US? After how many weeks? Just Curious....

Re: Bahubali - The Conclusion

The movie starts with a synopsis of the first part. In the first half it covers of how Amarendra Bahubali rose to be declared the monarch by his foster mom, Shivagami, how he comes to meet the princess Devasena of a small kingdom and is enamoured by her beauty and heroics. The princess becomes the root of the story to follow. Ballaldev uses the opportunity to create confusion about who should marry Devasena and impress upon his mother to retract her decision and make him the monarch. This is followed by numerous twists and turns which end up in the killing of Bahubali by Kattappa. The story then leaps to the era of Mahendra Bahubali who wants to free his mom from imprisonment and dethrone Ballaldev.

Now that I gave some thought, this part falls short versus the first part in some aspects.

1) Making Kattappa the subject of some light humour during the first half when Amarendra is wooing Devasena doesn't gel into the story very well. Wish it had been kept serious. This is a major drawback and adds about 30 mins to the movie.

2) The waterfall scene in the first part has no match in the second part. The lifting of Linga by Mahendra, the animal sacrifice scene, installation of Ballaldev statue, etc. Lent a lot of "wow" value to that part.

3) The battle scene where some tribe is defeated was superb. The battle scenes in this part are not of that standard.

4) This part scores in the story department. It has a lot more meat in that aspect.

5) While the first part had better music, there is one song in this movie that is more appealing VFX wise.
