Happy Diwali ... Indian cricket Aficionados and Amazing Television Set

Happy Diwali to you all. May Gods bless you and your loved ones. Tantric Yogi prays for your prosperity all through this new years and many more.

Now to other matters of importance ... I am aware majority of Indians back home listen to cricket commentary on radio while sitting in front of Sachin Tendulkar's framed photo singing bhajjans ... all day every day. Wonderful ... makes me proud.

So what the hell is it ... is it a television set or cinema type screen where pic is being projected through a projector? It cannot be television cause its so thin just like a photo frame unless it has been embedded in the wall just like Indians plastic wrap calculators. If it indeed is a television set ... this is amazing ... I haven't seen anything like that in last 20 years.

Have you ever seen such thin frame type television if it is a television and not cinema screen with projector?

Here please look at this photu and tell me what is this? Thanks. God bless you for your efforts to enlighten an old man.

Re: Happy Diwali ... Indian cricket Aficionados and Amazing Television Set

Plasma Tv? Where is the machine and the wires and rest of huge stuff that is normally behind the normal TV I got? I must visit loacl TV shop to find out more about this one inch frame like television.

Diwali ... celebration ... I am not happy are not words good enough to express my lack of exuberation. Strange ... there are no set established norms or rituals to celebrate or pray on such an auspicious day. Many people I spoke to ... what do you do ... I know all about buying candles or deepaks and light them in or out the house but what do you do for prayers beside eating sweets ... nothing.

Few years ago I asked to a Gujju family ... they sed to me ... buy account books exactly three days before diwali ... on the day diwali ... with sindoor draw swastika sign of good fortune ... sprinkle milk and few grains of rice and place a leaf of Kulkutta Paan and supari (definitely no tambakoo or choona) ... on the 5th page of account books ... and do arti. So ... we have been doing this ritual for few years now. Friends were kind to lend me the cd of arti ... Styanarayan arti. Every year I play Styanarayan Arti wondering what has Satyanarayan arti got to do with Diwali poojan?

Not only that ... also know I have also gotten meself a nice collection of about 20 or so account books from past few years prayers and I am not even knowing what to do with those account books?

On days like this I am getting to be likening to be admireing Muslims ... their celeberation of Id (?) after and during to 28 (?) day celeberation is still remening to be sem sem and it has been like that only for long long tem. They still get together after sunset and relatives, friends, groups, entire neighborhoods pray and eat together.

Why is it different with us Hindoos ... I dont understand.

A spoke to a frend to my ... he said to me ... I received from Indians Hindoos bags of gifts who bring to me in my home to give to me to wish happy diwali to me and to my family. Atleast in 4 bags there is bottle of alcohol, my frend said this to me. What connection Alcohol to Diwali good wishes ... make no sense.
