Yeh lo ji- If Hindus Don't Convert ... They Lack Religous Freedom!

Kamaal ho gaya ... American Commission says: India lacks religous freedom! Because of strict conversion laws?

India lacks religious freedom

Chennai, June 24 (IANS) A popular Hindu religious leader has slammed an American commission for saying India lacks religious freedom.

Dayananda Saraswati said at his ashram in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, that India should protest being named "a country of particular concern" by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.

He called on the Indian leadership to "set the record straight" and slammed the U.S. body for reportedly concluding there was no religious freedom in India because of laws prohibiting forced conversions.

The anti-conversion law was first enacted in 2002 by the Tamil Nadu government amid widespread protests from Muslim and Christian groups. Several states, especially those ruled by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have since said they would follow suit.

Saraswati said Monday: "India is a highly accommodative and secular country."

He suggested that India too set up a commission on religious freedom that should tell world forums how accommodative this country is towards various religious groups.

Lambasting the U.S. body, Saraswati accused it of being "oblivious of the sentiments of the Indian people".

He also criticised Pope John Paul II for slamming the anti-conversion law, saying the Christian pontiff's remark "deserves a serious rebuttal".

These people are happy lot as long as poor Hindus take money and convert. The moment government take steps ... India and Hindus have no religious freedom! Kiya choo tiyapanthi hai.

I guess this commission will be too scared shitting in pants to ever finger Saudi or other Arab countries. We Hindus and India are always soft targets. Thanks to our hijra politicians. We Hindus are to be blamed too. We malign and abuse our own religion and we think that makes us appear cool and popular.

Got to appreciate and salute Muslims ... I have never, have you ever meet a Muslim who abuses own religion as we stupid Hindus do? Some of us Hindus fokk sheet out of our religion and do not even have courage to feel guilty. I am guilty myself.

The problem is : second hand knowledge.

It is nearly impossible to learn by reading the scriptures oneself. So we resort to teachers. May be today, out of five hundred teachers, one may genuenly have some knowledge of scriptures. Rest of all are very happy speaking to public on TV. They enjoy the publicity. This creates many "partially informed" individuals with blind "devotion". The other so called "logically thinking" group who do not associate themselves with such activities end up rightfully rediculing this previous lot. Then, most of them in their over-enthusiasm, go steps ahead and start criticising the religion. Actually, you know.... it is the "in thing" to talk about "stupid" religious concepts ... and God.

Under Newt Gingrich and Paul Wolfowitz, if you do not support Christianity, then you lack religious freedom.
For more info, look at www.heritage.org

According to them, if you convert to Christrianity without asking any questions, then you are 'freed' people. These bastards are worse than Taliban. But don't worry, har kutte-ka din hota hai.

i have not read the Act itself, but i suppose the controversy will lie in what it actually seeks to ban, i.e. what is means by "forced conversion".

what the other religious groups will be claiming, no doubt, is that the coaxing of people to convert by paying them certain "expenses" is not forced but consensual conversion. the state government will claim, on the other hand, that this is forced conversion and will attempt to stop it.

this will be at the crux of the issue. if the illiterate people who have been converted are asked whether they were forced they will inevitably reply in the negative, thus preventing the government from saving them from themselves

kya karen bhai. it happens only in india.........

Come to think of it

When I was a kid in a Catholic school they had a separate class for Catholic students called Religion and for others a class called Moral Science.

But I remember that the teachers used to say things like -

"You should be good or else when you die and meet God in Heaven what will you answer..."

"He is very loving and you can be sure that He will take care of you if you pray and ask for forgiveness for your sins.."

"So you must tell your parents that when you die and go to Him, you want to be pure and without sin. So you must confess your sins now and ask for forgiveness..."

These statements at that time sounded quite innocuous but later on we realised that they had sublte undertones of Christianity and the cocepts like confessions, asking pardon for sins, etc. Offcourse the concept of asking a pardon for your sins is also there in Hinduism but the specific emphasis on confession ,etc. was more in line with Christianity.

But not a single kid in school took these things too seriously and till we passed out of school, I did not see anyone converting.

Hey I see a church on every corner

In India, temples are mostly for tourists, almost never for local people.

In north america, every intersection has a church (and a petrol pump and a fast food joint). Christians are more fanatical than any other people on earth and it's impossible for fanatics to understand real freedom. So, ultimately, it's not their fault, they are like this only ...
