Post Shaving - instruments, brands and habits

I was a long term user of Gillette. It really was the best out there. I had all the latest ones like Mach3, Turbo, Fusion, etc etc.

But I saw that over the years the price of razors just kept going up. So much so that at this time a single blade cartridge costs $5 plus!!

So just on a lark, I decided to try something else. I looked at Dollar Shave Club and saw that their products were okay. But before I could order, there was news that they were bought over by some big company.

Well, then I discoverd Harry's. Their blades cost just $2 per blade. And I am already 3 months into using Harrys. Superb blades and not expensive at all!! Do try it.. Its nice.

About shaving habits.. If possible, I shave after bath.. somebody told me skin is softer after taking a bath so easier to shave. Not sure if it's true.

I keep seeing the Harry’s ad. How long does a single triple or 4 blade last.
I picked up a 18 pack fusion from Costco long back. Started in feb or so and still on my 3rd one. The latest one has been there for over 2 months not w.

I was into Braun electric shavers, but the thing lasted 2 years or so and the replacement mesh for that is $40 or so.

I also used to do that, but now do some rudimentary puja, etc. in the morning. The belief is shaving makes you impure for that.

Re: Shaving - instruments, brands and habits

I always find it more comforting to use a shaving brush with Shaving cream (or a shaving round) rather than shaving foam.

Re: Shaving - instruments, brands and habits

I joined Harrys shave club a few months back and have not been disappointed. The blade quality is excellent and best part is that it all gets delivered home. You can select the frequency of delivery as per your shaving habits. The blades are German Engineered and the shave experience is really good I loved their shaving foam as well. good packaging too.

Harrys is mostly online but I have seen it in my local Target.

dirty bhau,
Gillette used to be good and the price did not affect me. I was seeing their quality go down and then started looking for an alternative. And in that process I realized that I was paying a lot for an okay okay quality blade.

Harry's is online, convenient and of good quality. Try it out once. You wont regret it.

You can get it in Target stores too.

I have found that a Harry's blade is best replaced after 2 weeks if you shave everyday - 7 days a week! (I do.. Sunday or Monday, I shave)

The Gillette fusion lasts anywhere between 2 weeks to 3 months. Inconsistent but lets see how far my 16 pack lasts.

2 weeks to 3 months? Each blade? what is you frequency of shaving?

yeah.. shower opens up the skin pores/softer skin, which leads to less irritation and closer shave.

6 days a week. saturday is mostly off. Anyway, 2 weeks and 3 months are outliers. Mostly last between 1 and 2 months. Current one is 2 months and might go for the next one in a couple of days.
